Rockets / Nets trade

Post#1 » by Ricepilar » Fri Feb 13, 2009 5:05 pm

I'm not sure how much sense this makes...

Rockets trade
Tracy McGrady, Aaron Brooks, 2009 protected 1st
FOR
Vince Carter, Bobby Simmons

The Nets save a decent amount of money and get back a good young player a pick.

The Rockets get a go-to guy that can actually play.

The Rockets have already traded their 2009 pick (to Sacramento). Also, I like Brooks, but the Nets already have a young PG pretty entrenched there...they might prefer a prospect on the wing. Still think it's a little light for the Nets.

Vince >>>>> Tmac and his health problems. Brooks doesn't make us ignore that. Rockets really don't have anything that would interest Jersey to give up Vince for.

I figured it'd be something around Artest that the Nets would be looking for while Houston reunites VC and TMac. I don't see anything happening between these two teams because Houston has already given up their youth to bring Artest in.

Rockets will offer Capspace instead of Youth, though I know they could possibly get more from others but I think we offer

Artest, Barry, Head, Alston for Carter, Dooling. all expire before 2010

Yeah, the pick would have to be 2010.

Brooks would be our stud BACKUP, and that's fine with us. I wouldn't be opposed to this deal, if it went down. Kind of cold to trade one cousin for another, though...
