I can see both teams doing this.

For Phoenix they could follow up with Shaq to New Orleans for Chandler and one or two of their wings.

Suns are eating a awful contract for a guy who often just goes through the motions-and give a real good player. I'm doubtful the salaries are even close enough that the Suns can do this without adding someone else.

I think the Jazz could work an AK deal to the Suns. For Shaq though, not JRich.

Good trade for both teams.

J-Rich fits well because he's a good jump shooter and he plays decent defense.... something that's hard to find in a Utah player, especially a guard. Phoenix gets longer, more defense, a better passer and a better finisher in AK47.

Does the Utah defense get worse? No. AK can't stay on the floor long enough due to his lack of a jump shot so players like CJ Miles and Kyle Korver get big minutes. J-Rich = Less Korver/Miles. With J-Rich and D-Will on the floor, Brewer and stay on and play effective D and he wont be a weak point on offense.

Do the Suns get screwed with a bad contract? No. The contracts are close enough that you can do it strait up. They are the exact same age and they are both two year contracts. Suns pay a little more for AK, but he's something that they can use so it's worth it.

It's a win-win.

I like the deal. It kinda leaves an hole in the Suns' starting 5 but maybe Hill is still able to play 25-30min a night...

Barbosa switches to starting 2, and Hill comes in off the bench as a 3. Hill could also play a 2, we can also use Dudly as a 2 or a 3, Tucker's a 2, Dragic can be a 2, and we also have a draft pick that could be a 2 as well. Losing J-Rich doesn't make us any less deep in that position bc I have a lot of confidence in Barbosa as a starter. His scoring averages go way up when he starts.

Similar to a couple of deals I have been advocating.....

Padawan, I envisioned Shaq leaving also, and shifting Amare back to the 5 spot, with Kirilenko at the 4, with Hill continuing at the 3.

Nash
Barbosa
Hill
Kirilenko
Stoudemire

I don't think Dragic can play as a 2 too much... he isn't that good of a shooter. Hill might be able to do it but Barbosa has to come off the bench imo.

Why would you guys trade Shaq? He expires, he's playing great and he provides ( along with Nash ) another run at the title ( or whatever ).

I like this trade, i think both teams need to change something and this might do some good for both teams. Oh and i think this is better for Utah... Kirilenko right now is way overpaid ( although he's a very good player ).

Let's make this quite a bit more interesting - what about AK and Ronnie Brewer and the Jazz #1 (#20) for Richardson and Barbosa?

By more interesting do you mean making it worse for Utah?

AK for J-Rich does work straight up on the Trade Checker (see Trade ID #5073887). It would save Utah about $3 mill /season for this year and next year (which they could really use!). Both contracts end in 2 years. Richardson scores about 8 ppg more and AK rebounds slightly higher. It would really come down to team fit. I've not really followed Richardson much but would not dismiss the idea.
