Why not a total makeover for the Raptors?

Post#1 » by timhorton69 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 5:23 pm

Sign Ben Gordon, Trevor Ariza and Chris Andersen (+Delfino or AP?) and Trade Bosh for Carlos Boozer
I'm not sure if the cap space will allow this. But this roster will look sweet!

1: Jose Calderon/Roko Ukic/Marcus Banks
2: Ben Gordon/Carlos Delfino
3: DeMar DeRozen/Trevor Ariza
4: Carlos Boozer/Pops
5: Andrea Bargnani/Chris Andersen/Jawai/O'Bryant

That backcourt would get raped anally on a nightly basis.

Good luck.

I doubt the Raps can FA Gordon plus Delfino,Anderson+Ariza. They won't have enough cap space at best, and Anderson + Ariza both will be getting MLE offers from a lot of teams. Trading Bosh for Boozer is tricky. The hurdle is all about who is willing to sign. Bosh is worth more but Bosh probably does NOT sign. Boozer will want $. Too much $ considering how much he's injured. Then....Bargs-Boozer-DeRozean would be a weak front 3 on D..with Calderon + Gordon turnstiles in the backcourt....so Anderson + Ariza would actually need to play a LOT to provide some D
CENSORED... No comment.

No Gordon + Jose back courts please ever!! Toronto has $10 million to spend how can we afford Anderson + Arzia and Gordon unless they are all taking pay cuts.

I want Artest to Toronto

Here's why we can't do it:

The Raptors will have roughly 10 million dollars in cap space this offseason....

-Ben Gordon wants 7-10 million per season...let's say he takes 7 per year for arguments sake.
-Trevor Ariza wants 7-10 million per season as well. However, people are saying he's worth 5 per so we'll go with that, again for arguments sake.
-Chris Anderson is gonna get at least 3 million per season
-Delfino or AP are gonna get at least 2-3 million per season, we'll go with 2 for whichever one you want, but only one of them.

7+7+3+2=19 million dollars

Result: 9 million dollars over the cap and very pissed off owners. All of those signings cannot happen.

Bosh, Hump for Beasley, Blount, Wright

Jose, Banks for Stackhouse, Bass (3 mil)

Sign Sessions at 6.5 mil, Marvin Williams at 9 mil. Roll out Sessions, Derozan, Marvin, Beasley, Bargnani and go for Wall

I especially like how you sign all those guys and then start a guy at SF who should be in his sophmore year in college over the guy who was just a pivotal piece on a championship team.
