Raptors Improved - TOR/WAS/PHI

Post#1 » by megaton » Thu Feb 11, 2010 1:16 am

Used ESPN Trade Machine for proposal.

WASH SENDS: Butler, Stevenson, Boykins
WASH RECEIVES: Calderon, Wright, Kapono TE (1.1 MIL), 3 mil cash (league max)
* 2 part trade - TE for Boykins 1st, then butler/stvensen for wright/caldy

PHI SENDS: Dalembert
PHI RECEIVES: Evans, Nesterovic, Banks, 2nd Round draft pick

TOR SENDS: Calderon, Wright, Kapono TE (1.1 MIL), Evans, Nesterovic, Banks, 3 mil cash (league max), 2nd Round draft pick
TOR RECEIVES: Butler, Stevenson, Boykins, Dalembert

Case for Wash: Strictly cap relief. Some would argue WASH could get better offers, but they would probably have to ship out Haywood.

Case for Phi: Convert a 12M 2011 exp, to two 5m exp players, + 2010 exp and a 2nd rnd dft pick. They do get a backup PG, which they lack (holiday has no legit PG backup).

Case for Tor: Obtain a go to guy who can create his own shot in Butler, while also acquiring a legit backup center who can actually play defense. On a second note, I wouldn't do this trade because TOR would need bigger big men to battle with dwight/bynum and given dalemberts lanky body, I dont know how much we will benefit.

Hell no from Philly. Convert quality center with a bad contract into 2 crap players with bad contracts. Reggie can't be traded back to us anyway.

No to Calderon for 7698430359043543543th time. The Wizards are not taking players with contracts going past this year. Sheesh.

Raps fans need to give it up. There's no way in hell the Wizards would take on Calderon's contract, especially with our team's ownership situation being so unsettled.

Even if Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld wanted to make this deal it would never get approved.

i read somewhere that you guys actually did need a PG.

but whatever, im actually liking the current raps squad, however butler is still appealing.

The original quote said quality center (as in he is playing well) with a bad contract. A contract does not make someone a better or worse player, so much as better or worse asset.

So trading this deal trades bad contracts for bad contracts, but a good player for worthless players.

Philly i s much better of keeping Dally than doing this deal.
