GREAT DEAL! LAL-CHI-DET.. Bulls save ..? a lot of money

Post#1 » by The_Commish » Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:53 am

Lakers:
Out: Vujacic, Morrison
In: Hinrich, Chris Wilcox, Chucky Atkins

get their PG and 4th best big man.

Bulls:
Out: hinrich, Ty.Thomas, 2010 top 12 protected 1st round pick
In: Morrison, Kwame Brown

save almost $6 million this year, and almost $20 more million over the rest of Hinrich's contract.
and they still have big man depth/size with Kwame.

Pistons:
Out: Kwame Brown, Chucky Atkins, Chris Wilcox
In: Tyrus Thomas, Sasha Vujacic, Bulls top 12 protected 1st round pick.

Thomas gives them more production than Wilcox/Brown combined, and Sasha is a shooter who will allow them to trade Hamilton or whoever they want for another big man. They also most likely get a mid 1st round pick this year.

how about a 2011 unprotected 1st? your team should be stacked by then.

I'm not sure that the Pistons need a first rounder to do do this. The rights to Thomas this summer seem pretty enticing.

If we don't sign a max FA, we're going to be pretty screwed. So no. The risk is much too high.

well, back to the protected one this year, its not like you are giving up your future, even if the bulls don;t get another star this summer, which i don't see why they won't. And if they do give the pick, its not a very high pick you are losing.

Tyrus Thomas = Worth possibly a late lottery to at least a mid 1st round pick 2010

You have the Bulls are giving up 2 1st round picks to dump Hinrich when I am not so sure they need to even include Tyrus to dump him all together for expirings.

No deal for Chicago.

So the Piston's get to overpay another SG? and they trade two bigs for one? Tyrus is the best player in the deal, but I only do it if a 1st is included as incentive. We would be helping a division rival and strengthening the strongest team in the league, so we need at least that level of asset considering we are also taking back money in an unneeded position.

I said possibly. I never said someone did.

Nobody knows what was offered for Tyrus. All we know is multiple teams have offered 1st round picks.

No one is going to offer a lottery pick for the privilege of giving Thomas a contract. They'd rather just keep the pick and get a guy on a rookie deal likely to be as good as Thomas right out of the gate.

I somewhat agree with this. I doubt a rookie is going to be as good as Thomas right off the bat or even have as much potential as him. But I do agree that noone is going to give us a lottery pick. I didn't even think we'd get a 1st, but apparently, there's some report going around saying that we're getting multiple offers of "expirings and a mid 1st round pick" from several suitors. I still don't think we can really get a 1st, but whatever. Just saying what's out there.
