That was more what I was meaning to say. I spent the majority of the season laughing at him and predicting epic fail in the playoffs. He had timely playoffs moments. Overall, there's more we can do (and perhaps NEED to do) with that remaining cap space.

Fisher does the little things on the court and he's a smart player and can hit a clutch shot. But, his overall game has always been lacking. With his age it has regressed even further.

Anyone think he might come back for the vet min? If he would, I'd absolutely love him here at that price. We'd be amazingly deep at the wings. A rotation of Wade/Bron/Miller/Q is almost too good to be true.

I don't know if this has really been addressed yet but for you guys who watch games, anyone notice Q's sick post game? i swear there were a couple games where we would go to him 3 straight possession and he would pull a strong quick spin for an easy 2, we didn't even go that as much as we could have. basically bottom line those 4 and if u want to add raja. there is no real weakness in that rotation and they all have a lot more to offer than your average role player wing players imo :o would love to have him back.

Q told Bosh he's the next PJ Brown

We'll still have the TPE from Minnesota, right? Think we might be targeting a C with that?

I'd like to see Q back. That guy was great for us.

Chalmers/Arroyo
Wade/Bell/
LeBron/Miller/Q
Bosh/Haslem/Howard
Joel/Pittman/Z

Look like a great rotation to me.

(Yeah I know I went over. Just throwing out the options)

Fisher is better than Chalmers and Arroyo...Period

It will be a upgrade over them to. Plus we need that Veteran presence on this young team to keep ego's in check..

Other than the locker room presence, what can he do that Chalmers can't? And don't say hit big shots.

No, we're going to renounce that TPE so we can re-sign Haslem (or Miller, whoever signs second).

Other than block shots like it's going out of style and playing great defense, what can Alonzo Mourning do that Shavlik Randolph can't?

 Horrendous analogy. Chalmers is a good young player with a lot of potential, was captain of a National Champion, and was our second leading scorer in the playoffs. Derek Fisher is among the worst PGs in the league defensively whose locker room presence is mostly propped up by his history with the Lakers franchise and his relationship with Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson. There's no way to guarantee that these qualities translate being a team leader in Miami. And I don't even believe there will be conflicts in the locker room to defuse so long as we fill out the roster with guys who know their place. (and don't bring in some imbecile like Shaq)

Wade, Bron, and Bosh all chose to be together. They are all close personal friends. This is not Kobe and Shaq. It's not even remotely similar. The idea that there will be ego clashes is a fabrication due to wishful thinking by the national media. If we need someone to step up and get people in line during the playoffs who has a championship pedigree, we have a guard named Dwyane Wade that can do that. Derek Fisher will do nothing but slow down this team offensively and weaken our perimeter defense.

To compare a sub-par college player who's never played a meaningful minute in the NBA to a borderline hall of famer. And then say that's similar to my comparison of one of the stars of a national championship team with a promising NBA career to a guy Fisher who at the same stage in his career was not nearly as accomplished.... Well that's just disingenuous at best.

Derek Fisher became Derek Fisher because he was put in that situation time and time again due to his supporting cast. Can you dispute my position that he will slow down our offense and weaken our perimeter defense? That Mario Chalmers is superior both offensively and defensively to Fisher at this stage in their career and in similar stages of their career?

Personally, I feel that Chalmers blossoms into a better version of Derek Fisher on this team. And the likelihood of that happening is far greater than Derek Fisher saving us from a Wade vs. LeBron meltdown, or whatever unsubtantiated scenario the national media is projecting. Nothing in Wade, Bosh, or LeBron's career suggests that they're not strong leaders who get along with their teammates. So by signing Fisher we'd be fighting and imaginary ghost.

I agree I am not too big on Fisher, the only reason I would want him is to leave the Lakers with a new PG and take away a guy Kobe likes to play with. And I think we need to figure out the C position before PG. But I am also not 100% sold on Mario, he has a lot to prove and I can understand Riley not wanting to gamble on him.
