I don't think the Knicks see it that way, otherwise why did they just trade for Calderon? They gave an ok center on an expiring for the right to pay 22 mil to Calderon over 3 years. That tells something. The Knicks definitely see Calderon as their starter for the next few years. Prigioni is a fine backup.

Maybe they'd like Cole as an insurance option. Calderon and Prigioni are both likely to miss some games. But I always got a feeling that the Knicks drastically overrate Shumpert, so it would be a bit surprising if they trade Shumpert for someone they don't see as a starter and maybe not even the main backup.

So with all these signings last few days, I guess I didn't quite follow which players are signed for the season and which just for the camp. So which players are a lock to be on a roster this year? As in, already have a contract? Also, who can be let go during/after the camp?

Rio/Cole/Napier
Wade/Ennis/Williams (Reggie)
Deng/Granger
McBob/Haslem/Williams (Shawne)
Bosh/Anderson/Hamilton

Is this correct or did I get something wrong?

Mozgov would be a nice addition, but he's under contract and apparently the Cavs are offering a 1st for him. So he's not going to happen.

So far it looks the opposite. A thin bench that really needs Granger healthy to be a decent bench.

Wanting Shumpert stems from the thought we can turn him into a better player? He really isn't that impactful other than through his defense, which is a bit overstated at times.

Miami is notorious for doing partial guarantees. That's how they get these guys to sign without giving other team another look. My guess is both Williams' and Tyler Johnson got partially guaranteed deals that become fully guaranteed if they're with the team after a certain point in the season.

My guess is we go into the season with this:

Pg: Chalmers / Cole / Napier
Sg: Wade / R. Williams / Johnson
Sf: Deng / Granger / Ennis
Pf: McBob / Haslem / S. Williams
Cc: Bosh / Anderson / Hamilton

That is, of course, subject to change. I'm still hoping for Okafor and Crawford.

I'm sorry but I've had an man crush on both Beas and Oden since the day we signed them. :lol:

I kinda agree, we probably need Reggie more than Shawne due to lack of depth at SG, but I just think Shawne is a much better player than Reggie and also more versatile. And don't get me wrong, I'd welcome Blatche or Okafor with open hands, but I was always more of an "guy with upside" lover, hence my unhealthy obsession with Oden and Beasley.

Yeah, people are really sleeping on Reggie Williams. Also getting rid of a back SG to sign another stretch 4 would make me throw up.

maybe he meant Shawn Jones? I'm looking for other reports to back it but everyone including people who have spoken to his agent are saying Shawne Williams is guaranteed. I really don't get that signing at all.
