If he delivers on just one chip with cleveland he'll cement his brand forever. He'll be the second coming of christ to them for years and years and years. They'll be buying Lebron kicks and gear for generations to come. Smart business move by him. Once he wins he becomes their God lol

There's going to be too much of a bidding war for Love imo, between Golden State, Boston, and Cleveland. The price for Love will go up...

Not really. Houston had just cleared the space to give him a 4 year deal at $84-88M, starting at ~20M. You wanna insult him by suggesting he's worth less? Or offer him max first year but not max raises or max years, and risk him saying, "thanks, but I'll go to this franchise that clearly appreciates what I bring to the table more than you do?"

We paid Bosh precisely what we needed to to ensure that he stays, and ensuring that he stays was necessary to avoid complete collapse into the lottery.

So Mopper, after the Bosh signing, how much cap space do we have?

How I reacted to The Decision.

When I heard the news I was in shocked, lost my appetite mid lunch...got 17 text messages in 10 minutes haha(maybe a clue I have too much of my identity attached to a sports team ya think?) .....Felt disappointed but I had been preparing myself for a week now. Too much smoke for no fire man...

Next, I heard Bosh was going to Houston, Bulls were gauging interest in Wade, I thought the worst. I thought about a 69 year old Pat Riley having all 3 of his STARS leave the franchise on the same day, with minimal assets in terms of draft picks and why the heck is he going to go through another rebuild.. and I thought....oh my God the Riley era might be over. I sat in my office for 2 hours or so and felt kinda dead inside. so deflated, drained and feeling hopeless. Riles always said.. " their is winning and their is misery" we didn't lose a game today, we lost more. I thought here comes misery....thought back to when Lewis Schaffel was running things and the days where a playoff home game seemed like such an accomplishment. Now if we don't have 3 superstars we are disappointed. Those 90s Riley coached Heat teams would have KILLED for 3 superstars. Always felt we were a 3rd banana short when the ish hit the fan come playoff crunch time back then....I found perspective, but impending mass change felt awful.

Then I heard Bosh resigned, some say we overpaid but I think in our position, I disagree. That deal means more to me than that money. Bosh committed to being here, he also is in the prime of his career, trust me... if you ask Bosh for more he can give it to you. 22/9 is coming. Don't get me wrong..he isn't going to lead a team to a title on his back but in THIS East who the hell knows..then I heard Wade & UD will be back and both are positioning contracts to provide flexibility.

Then..it hit me.....

I was reminded of what this was about before the circus arrived...before ESPN had a damn Heat Index, (OT: can you believe WE had an Index on ESPN!).. I owned the Champion brand size 36 to 42 jerseys of Seikaly, HMiner(both #4 & #32), SSmith, GRice(black and white), Timmie, Zo, PJ Brown and wore them with a whole lot of people seeing some of those names and asking "Who is that?"......We made it. That matters.

Riley will make another few moves that make us a legit Eastern Conference Playoff team, a little luck, a deadline trade, who knows what else...you can get to a ECF or hell if we have the Ray Allen Game 6 shot in our blood maybe even farther...again, I am not thinking championship or bust now. This is about sustained, consistent ability to put a winning product on the floor. We have that.

Everything is going to be just fine, I love Lebron James as a member of the Heat and I feel grateful I got to root for the greatest athlete on Earth for 4 years in MY childhood favorite team's uniform.

But life goes on, and we will be back. We proved it before and we will again. Just like the last sentence of the Pat Riley statement today.

It's not that Bosh isn't worth it. Bosh WANTED to be here. Bosh WANTS to win.

So you could've approached him and say take this, we'll give Wade this, and we get room to add piece to keep competing at a high-level.

If Bosh refused to take less, than ok. But I think when they saw the Woj bombs about Bosh, they just gave him the max. Of course Bosh wasn't going go to say I want less.

you don't know what the negotiation was like. I'm just guessing this was all worked out with bosh's agent long before. he'd take less to play with lebron otherwise he wants the max.

If Bosh wasn't willing to sign for less than the max, than I agree.

But you're already giving him that extra-year, that extra-security. And he gets to stay here.
Instead of giving the max, you could've maneuvered a little bit.

Unless of course, he wasn't willing to sign for nothing short than the max. Which I doubt.

Look man. NO ONE is coming to a losing team. Players are super star free agents because they generally don't like the situation that they are in. What free agent super star will leave a losing team just to go play for another losing team?

So you have to maintain Bosh. Bosh could have left and went to Houston but he decided to fight and tough it out.

Deng at 12-14 will be a panic move. You're going pay a Role player that?

Go after Lance and pay him 12-14 and I'll understand. Dude does a bit of everything and we have guys that repair him.

Really high on Bledsoe too but he has that agent.

Monroe is a solid young piece that we could build around but doubt SVG lets him go.

Yeah. He's trying to romanticize this. It was his camp vs. Riley in a power struggle and Riley didn't cave.

Hard to say. But with Bosh, Shabazz, Cole, Birdman, McRoberts, and Granger, you get a total of 35M in salary. with incomplete roster charges that leaves $28M in space. But of course if we want to hold on to Bird rights and such for players that's gonna take up some space

Guys the Suns just traded for Isaiah Thomas, AND they have dragic also.

Im telling you Bledsoe might be attainable if we throw the max at him. We need to take the risk it's an overpay and get him.

Honestly, I just started to wonder a little while ago if the news of Jordan becoming a billionaire a little while back had something to do with this. Jordan reached that status by retiring not just as the GOAT, but as an adored, revered, deified GOAT. I wonder if LeBron and his people started to think that with the vitriol he attracted down here, he might be recognized for his legendary skills, but he'd never have the same level of post-career marketability and compared that to Jordan.

Honestly, to us as fans we think about the team first, but imagine if you were at one job that was going well and all that, but another one came along guaranteeing you lifetime profitability and godlike status in your field. To these guys it's life. When LeBron came down here four years ago, he was thinking the same thing. He was thinking that if he stayed in Cleveland and never won some rings, he'd have Jordan talent, but a Barkley or Ewing-esque legacy and post-career life. We were his ticket to the upper echelon. I just don't think he or his people, back then four years younger and never having gone through something like this, even remotely anticipated the backlash that was going to come with it.

The irony is that there shouldn't be a power struggle after 4 Finals/2 Titles :noway:.
