Spo to Coach the East in Allstar Game

Post#1 » by GreenHat » Mon Feb 4, 2013 7:38 am

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra will coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game, to be played on Sunday, Feb. 17 (8 p.m. ET), at the Toyota Center in Houston.

The Heat (30-14, .682) clinched the best record in the conference through games played Feb. 3, by virtue of its 100-85 road win against the Toronto Raptors.

Didn't see a thread for this now that its official.

Better hope Melo doesn't try to steal it with his 3 point barrage he'll let off!

Phil's first two seasons coaching Jordan, Pippen, and Grant:

(1) Eastern Conference Finals loss
(1) NBA Finals win

Spo's first two seasons coaching LeBron, Wade, and Bosh:

(1) NBA Finals loss
(1) NBA Finals win

Of course that's ignoring that Pippen and Grant were both only second year players or that the Bulls lost in 7 games to the Bad Boy Pistons instead of the Mavs.

Hearing someone put Spo in the same sentence as Phil just makes me cringe..

Just stop, it's really embarrassing even for homers talk.

If the league didn't automatically pick the leader's respective coaches and there was no "consecutive years" rule, it should've been Mark Jackson for West and Tom Thibodeau for East, I think.

Gregg Popovich for West is fine though, he deserves every accolade he gets. What a coach.

Lighten up, Francis. It was a tongue-in-cheek post. But realistically you need to do your homework and stop acting as if the Phil Jackson who ended his career with 11 rings was the same Phil Jackson who was coaching back in 1990.

Two years into his head coaching career Phil was viewed as nothing more than some journeyman, ex-NBA player that no one gave any credit (especially the media and his coaching peers), who had coached in Puerto Rican league and the CBA, and was fortunate enough to inherit the best player in the game, along with Tex Winter's triangle. Phil grew into his legend over decades winnning. He didn't start that way.

But the Heat aren't on pace to win 67 games so he's an abject failure

Congrats for real though... :)

Why did you use 67? We aren't even on pace for 57.
