I hate the mere mention of TJ involved in any trades.

I don't think he's the best fit right this minute for our team (our pressing need being perimeter 3/D players imo) and he might be redundant with Bosh and McBob, but I would have a hard time passing up on a talent like that.

Think it's too late to try offering Winslow for Turner?

Dragic/Whiteside/TJ/JJ should be off the books imo.

Spot on. No way you can break up Johnson & Johnson.

i wonder if phil jackson likes winslow.

melo would be interesting as a stetch 4 on this team.

He would, but we aren't close enough to contending for that to be the best move for us. We would need another significant veteran presence for that to work.

Turner is a building piece & Winslow is a building piece, so swapping then doesn't help either team. Should we perhaps look to become the building team then? A trade built around Whiteside for Turner perhaps, and allow Indy to make a push to keep PG.

My guess is that James Johnson is going to command at least $12m and Dion Waiters around that value if not slightly less. I do see the Heat's need for a more consistent jacker and agree that Gallo would fit perfectly on this roster, but he's going to be pretty expensive if he opts out. If he stays, a S&T will very difficult and counterproductive from Heat's perspective. It's getting more clear that the Heat should start clearing up Bosh's salary sooner than later.

Gallo would be a nice piece but doubt Pat wants him. With all the injuries piling up year by year and adding Gallo's injury prone career, that he wouldn't want to deal with it.

Hmmm that's pretty interesting now that I think about it. Phil is desperate to get rid of Melo, and I think Melo is starting to get sick of the Knicks and that losing culture no matter how much he loves New York City.

While I'm still hesitant to part with Winslow as I want to see how he progresses with us,if we're able to land Carmelo for a deal surrounding Winslow and some filler perhaps McBob and maybe a third team involved, I think you take it.

Miami could be a nice fresh start for Melo's career and could even knock off a few pounds from him and get him into great shape,in our system.

That's a name I'm gonna be looking out for.

Melo in miami, would be in best shape of his life, could be something.

Went to the Knicks board and one their mods said that they would trade Melo for Winslow.
What package deal surrounding Winslow would you offer them?

I have a feeling Pat is off the Banana Boat's wild ride for good.

And that's cool with me

I understand going after Melo, but resigning Dion for the same price makes more sense. Dion has more upside and can finish at the rim. Blowing it up would be most ideal for me, however resigning Dion would be the best move to "contend".

why would we have the same results from this season if we operate under the assumption that the team has grasped the coaches philosophy and became better as the health and camaraderie of the players improved as the season went on? The team that began the season and the team that ended the season are starkly different.

If the heat had played at the level we were playing at at the time dion was last healthy for the entirety of the season, we'd likely have won 50+ games and competed for the top seed in the conference. this can't be ignored when thinking about where we will end up next season. It is not unwise to expect this heat team to win close to or slightly above 50 games next season. This team legit became a very good nba team. You witnessed outright transformation.

Sure we'd have to reincorporate winslow back into the starting lineup and handle some of his offensive growing pains, but whose to say that he won't come into the season as an improved shooter, thus making this transition seamless as his playing style makes him easy to assimilate into lineups to begin with. Not changing too much about this team is super underrated in securing success for next season. We need to maintain the comfort level these guys have as best as possible, while continuing the development of each of these players individually. Many of these guys could keep getting better - not just young dudes like j rich and winslow. These guys are going to be motivated to slaughter everyone after watching inferior teams make the playoffs.

The experiment was a success. We can win with a team that features whiteside and dragic as centerpiece players, and we can develop guys who have the skills we desire into functional players. the next step in our teams evolution is developing dion, winslow, and j rich into the guys who can take over in a couple of years when dragic and hassan begin to decline, while continue the search for guys who can thrive in our culture. This season has showed us that we dont need to chase a whale. Just like the Spurs, our culture IS THE WHALE.

Winslow needs to be incorporated off the bench next year. Dragic, Waiters, and Whiteside need a reliable three point threat at SF. Winslow's playmaking is better served with the second unit. A second unit of Weed, JJ, Winslow, Ellington, and TJ looks stout.

I wonder if Spo would try starting Winslow at the 4

I don't mind Winslow at the 4 but only in small spurts. If we decided to start Winslow at the 4 i would be hoping it's in a pairing with a SF 6'9 and up who can stroke it from three. Gallinari and Gay come to mind.

I want no part of Melo at the expense of a young cost controlled asset in Winslow.

Return to Miami Heat
