Agreed. Even if the heat somehow found a way to sign Hayward AND Griffin they would still not be able to compete with Celtics and Cavs. Griffin is too injury prone.

Best bet for Riley right now is to have a 3 year plan for rebuilding, which is what I'm sure he's thinking. Let the instant gratification franchises like the Magic and Knicks go after the player that turns them into mere playoff contenders. The Heat have always had bigger plans. It may take a couple of more years of patience, but they will be back to being CHAMPIONSHIP contenders before Riley retires.

my top priority would be using the 14th pick to get a high energy big man.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

More like a playoff plan then retire into the sunset. Pat wanted to GM from his home in Cali....

Get Heyward, sign JJ for the MLE, convince Waiters to sign a one year so we can get his Bird rights and then max him out.

Whiteside/Johnson/Hayward/Waiters/Dragic
Bam/Haslem/Winslow/Richardson/T. Johnson

Solid 10 men rotation with Luke B and Okaro wrapping up the 12 men
