***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2023-2024 Regular Season***

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Mon Oct 2, 2023 7:32 pm

So....there's no denying it's been a rough offseason...but it's time again - that time to really objectively think about this team.

Last year we as a collective got a little too hyped about the regular season, our average prediction was 52 wins, and we ended up with 44 Wins as the 7th seed. yikes.

In the same time - We did OVERACHIVE in the playoffs, reaching the finals despite most fans saying reaching even the ECF would be considered a success.

So, how differently do you this season is going to go?

Last season Prediction thread :

How wisdom of the crowd effect works :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd

So let's get after it - All answers should address the Regular Season :

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2023-2024 season?

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/JJJ/Hampton/Orlando Robinson/Cain/other)?

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

ICC PREDICTIONS - LETS GO!!!

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2023-2024 season?
- Miami finished 44-38 last year, with and all time worse shooting season.
- Perhaps we get an additional 5 wins based on better shooting, then I say 2 extra wins based on improvements from the younger guys and the added depth in our frontcourt.
- My prediction is 51-31

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?
- Yes (4th-5th Seed)

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?
- Tyler Herro 23ppg, Bam Adebayo 22ppg, Jimmy Butler 20ppg, Caleb Martin 15ppg, Nikola Jovic 10ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?
- Josh Richardson (defensive intensity, lead team in steals)

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/JJJ/Hampton/Orlando Robinson/Cain/other)?
- Nikola Jovic (will get more playing time, and will grow as the season progresses)

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?
- Tyler Herro (Just on logic as a scoring guard, should have the largest jump, unless Bam somehow finds his 3pt shot)

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?
- Kevin Love (will be injured, or slowly fall out of the rotation as the year progresses)

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?
- Kyle Lowry (Plus a FRP or 2nd Rounder for some depth, not for a star just middling talent to bolster the team)

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)
- Tyler Herro (It will be a revenge tour season, his improvement will prove a lot of folks wrong)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?
- He is doing the best he can with what he has, also secondary he hates playing the young kids over the terrible vets.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.
- Bam Adebayo (Will have 2.5 3pt attempts per game moving forward)

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.
- Miami will look really good in the mid season tourney, and the ESPN heads will say its that nobody else is really tyring.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.
- Bammy will jump on the Donovan Mitchel to Miami Heat bus as soon as rumors start circulating.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?
- Success: Young players showing big improvements, raising their value, Herro and Bam taking another step, Jimmy staying healthy.
- Failure: A repeat of last season regular season play style, and finding themselves fighting for the playing games again.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?
- Young player improvements, we don't have a shiny new player to wow the team, so Herro, Bam, Jovic, JJJ, Orlando Robinson, Josh Richardson, Caleb Martin, all need to have above average seasons.

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?
- Milwaukee Bucks win the East, Phoenix Suns win the West. Phoenix suns win the championship. Booker wins MVP.
- Boston Celtics are runner ups in the East, Denver Nuggets are runner ups in West.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?
- If Miami goes against Boston or Milwaukee before the Eastern Conf then theyll end in the second round. If Boston & Milwaukee eliminate each other and Miami finds itself in the Eastern Conf theyll lose there.
- Only teams capable of taking Miami down as constructed are either of those two teams.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2023-2024 season? 48

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? no doubt, 3rd seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? Herro -23, Bam - 22, Butler - 22, Caleb - 12, J Rich -10

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)? JJJ

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/JJJ/Hampton/Orlando Robinson/Cain/other)? JJJ

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? Does Cole Swider count. He was with Lakers last year but didn't really player. I think he earns 15 - 20 mins shooting 39 + % from 3

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? Lowry, he's washed. Or Cluncan Robinson returns

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? Duncan for expiring

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both) JJJ being really good. I think Jovic has higher ceiling but he needs one more season before we see him make a leap

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? At end of regular season - Fire Spo. At end of playoffs - Best coach in NBA. Same as pretty much every year

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. Not statistical but Bam finally wins Defensive player of the year

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. When Cole Swider wins Eastern conference player of the month in Jan

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?Have to get to min 2nd round of playoffs

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Like last season, 3 pt shooting

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions? This is hard. My 4 finalist would be Suns, Lakers, Bucks and Heat. Denver is out, no one has been able to make back to back finals since GSW. But if I'm being honest it should be Celts instead of Heat. But this team is full of surprises

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?I'm gonna go ahead and say it, Heat make another finals. But tbh probably loose in ECF. Dame and Giannis is gonna be tough to beat

After watching Preseason im temptep to adjust my prediction, didnt like our cohesion, and outside of Bam & Highsmith nobody else looked to have improved. Tyler im iffy about, just looks to be more agressive and making quicker decisions but outside of that looks identical to last year.
