He also didn’t want to be here in the first place. He made it very clear he wanted to be in Miami, nowhere else. He can’t help it that a bunch of old stubborn men couldn’t come to an agreement and let the politics of it all get in the way.

That being said, I’ve watched the bucks a decent amount so far, they aren’t using Dame right at all. He’s doing a lot of standing around off ball as a safety valve if the plays fall apart and they build a wall on Giannis. Which is fine, Giannis is the 2nd or 3rd best player in the world so it is what it is.

Dames scoring is still elite and hyper efficient to no surprise. For comparison, at his current rate if he were taking as many shots as Herro he would be averaging 36 PPG right now.

This is not a Dame vs Herro debate by the way, just adding some context

That is not how it works. FTs are also possesions.
Dame is at 63.4% TS and Herro at 57%. Yes, Dame scores more efficiently for that reason, but the difference in production if you look at those guys and a normalized stats like PER is basically nothing. Herro is even a better playmaker than Dame so far, same assists with fewer turnovers. The real difference is, Dame costs twice as much.

It really looks like we dodged a bullet, if Herro continues to play like he started the season.

Spoiler:
I think I can say with great confidence that Tyler will not shoot 45% from 3pt range for the season. I'm also pretty confident that Tyler won't make it through the season playing 38 minutes per game.

PER (player efficiency rating) is a normalized per minute stat, it doesn't matter how much minutes you play.
Lillard currently has 19.95 and Herro is at 18.37, difference is barely anything.
Last year Lillard was at 26.96 and Herro was at 15.49, my guess is Lillard's will still go up slightly but same can happen with Herro's.
Yeah, it's somewhat flawed, because defense is not really incorporated in it, but it's a decent stat to measure production.

It's kind of impressive that Herro's PER went up, although he is playing a lot, usually that is a good sign.

Things will settle down as the season ages, but ill tell you want...it is fun to watch the early days of JJJ, and the growth of Herro and surprise surprise...Duncan.

With Highsmith and JJJ...I hope we get a Highsmith/Caleb or Caleb/JJJ combo in the near future.

Herro now averaging 25.2/5/5 on 44.5% fg% for the season.

Bam averaging 21.5/9/4 on 50.5 fg%.

Hope to see Bam continuing to take more three pointers as the season progresses.

I rather him shoot an in-rhythm three pointer than a tough off-balanced / contested pull-up long mid-ranger (which he shoots a couple of every game).

Seems there’s already talk out there that Herro is outplaying Dame. Got to love it

We needed 2-3 more attempts last night, especially after he drilled the 1st. I don’t understand it.

Someday people are going to learn that the only numbers that mean anything this early in the season are the ones that confirm what you already knew about a player.

Everyone said Bam can’t shoot, he responds by shooting 50% from 3 this season as an elite sniper……

The past two games the Heat are averaging 9 TOs in the 4th quarter alone. Likely the greatest factor in their poor defensive ratings.

Herro is leading the team in 4th quarter TOs with 2 per game. Followed by Bam at 1.5.

Kyle Lowry is averaging 0 TOs in the 4th quarter the past two games.

Last season the Heat excelled in the 4th quarter

OffRtg 113, DefRtg 108
5.3 to 3.4 ast to turnover in the 4th

A player they miss who was amazing in the 4th is Victor Oladipo

last yr Oladipo 4th quarter average
OffRtg 115.6, DefRtg 105.3
1 to 0.5 ast to turnover and 0.6 stls

Lowry is averaging 6 to 1 in Ast to Turnover the last two games. That is amazing. Not sure what's how much less he is handling the ball in the 4th

Lowry is also doing a lot less handling, and playing way more off ball, he just the de-facto get it across the half court line give it to one of Herro, Jimmy, Bam. That doesn't take away from his 6 to 1 ratio, other than he is being very selective when he gets to initiate and also when defenses are tightest in the fourth where your prone to making turn overs, he isn't handling as much.
