When I post players, I am not posting specifically for the 16th pick. Just players that fit the Heat system anywhere in the draft.

Tbh, this draft is so flat there's a case to take anyone outside the lottery at any pick.

When the "experts" were pumping up ho hum prospects like Holland and Buzelis for the number one pick, I knew this draft was going to be different than other years. I like the guys projected outside the lottery as much or more than the lotto guys.

So who are gonna be the sleeper picks the Heat take this time? Someone we all usually overlook or don't really consider due to our person biases. As much as I hate it, its probably not going to be a point guard. I don't know if we have EVER drafted a pg. I think it'll be a big man or wing.

One thing Id be curious about concerning Daron is that usage %. That is pretty high. What would he look like with a much much lesser percentage as an ancillary player?

I was wondering the same. The emerging 3-point shot is encouraging in that regard (tidbit below gives me hope on that front). Glimpses of playmaking/passing are also important. It's always a red flag for me if a guy scores points paired with high usage but he (1) doesn't show sufficient playmaking with that usage and (2) he is primarily scoring in a manner distinct from his likely NBA role (or area on the court). At the least, his Assist% relative to Usage % appears to be top 3 among the group.
That pattern has held up this year but with clear signs of improvement. Holmes ranks in the 89th percentile as a jump shooter and the 85th percentile on catch-and-shoot looks. He’s been slightly below-average when guarded (36th percentile), but lights-out when given space beyond the arc, ranking in the 93rd percentile on unguarded looks.

What do you guys feel our biggest need is, knowing how Spo likes to play and the type of players he likes?

Playmaking or 3 and D wing for me. We got some of those, but with Butler aging and Martin and maybe a few other wings not being here next year, I'd feel better with more depth in those roles.

My heart wants a legit pg for the future, but my head knows it'll be 3&D wings. This team loves its 3&D wings.

Devin Carter: Tough 3&D Combo Guard that rebounds well for his size and is the son of Heat alum Anthony Carter? That sounds perfect for the Heat. I wouldn't be surprised if they were already well aware of him.

I could honestly see him as the top player on our board at 16. His name continues to climb up boards but he's ranging anywhere near 13 to early 20's in most mocks. The value is going to be at combo PG when we pick whether it be Carter, Collier, or McCain.

If some how he slips and it could be a very big possibility. Nikola Jovic's Serbian bro Nikola Topic could be a homerun pick at 16. He would be someone you draft and you resign Delon Wright to a minimum and have him go through the program to develop as PG star of the future. Jovic already being here would greatly help him with the transition. Topic has that Gogi Dragon type of game. Tankathon currently has him rated as the top PG prospect in the draft but seen his stock rated all over the place. NBADraft.net has us taking him at 15

No chance unless some terrible medicals, Nikola Djurisic is the one the Heat should be looking at improved a ton and I think the Heat coudl turn him into a plus defender with his size/build.

Would lose my mind if Topic was there at 16. Seems a big long shot.
As it is though, Collier/Carter/McCain all possibilities. That does seem the best value to upside for us around that pick. I doubt we go big but who knows.

No value for a big at 15 or 16. BPA will be the guards and i’m fine with either of the 3 above. Can find some nice big developmental prospects in the 2nd round or even a non drafted.

You can’t waste a pick on a big that has no shot at playing with Bam. You’re essentially wasting a pick on a 15 min a night player. Not really any good stretch 4’s in this draft worthy of being picked at 15-16. Tristan Da Silva maybe? The guards have a higher probability of turning into something more than rotation players. Da Silva could be a bigger Jaquez Jr
