Imagine if Butler didn’t harbor this defeatist, lazy mentality all season smh….the two seed was a legitimate possibility.

There's very little gap in overall team quality between 2th and 9th seed in the East.

If we got our chit together we could've gotten to AT LEAST ECF.

Wins - Butler had 1.6 steals per game, .661 TS%, 24.7 USG, 135 ORTG, 108 DRTG
Losses - Butler had 1 steal per game, .583 TS%, 23.3 USG, 121 ORTG, 122 DRTG

You can see the effort was usually different in the wins vs losses, steals (jumping into passing lanes) are a great indication of Butler being engaged or not.

2+ steals in a game this year for Butler, Miami went 17-7.
3+ steals in a game this year for Butler, Miami went 7-1.

He's been very efficient for most of his career (.588 TS% for his career) and has a career 123 calculated ORTG which would make it odd that he's never averaged more than 23.3 pts per game for a season. It's one of the reasons I'm following him although it's also frustrating since I think he could average in the high 20s, possibly could have broke 30 ppg if he really wanted to score. The way he's playing in the regular season/playoffs seems to be taking back seat for his teammates to get their numbers then when it's the playoffs he locks in.

Looking at last year, Butler didn't have a good 1st play-in game but took 19 shots and scored 21, the 2nd play in game he shot 24 times to score 31, so it does seem he will give more effort in the play in games.

What a load of BS that Butler pushes all the time. Playoff Jimmy isn't a thing. He gives more effort and usually takes more ownership of his team.

Butler will admit that things “ramp up a notch” this time of year. Amid the last few weeks of the regular season and into the playoffs, he and Brickley start working out the night before every single game. They study the defense Miami is about to face and try to replicate the exact situations Butler will find himself in. What spots on the floor will be open? What shots will be available? What switches might occur? Butler’s basketball IQ is “probably the highest IQ out of any player I’ve worked with,” says Brickley.

I can’t believe we brought Duncan back when he still wasn’t healthy and now he’s missed the end of the season and potentially the play in, I really think a good and efficient Duncan (pre injury Duncan) and pre injury Rozier could be huge X factors for us

They wanted to bring him back before Herro to make it easier for Herro to accept the scoring 6th man role, but it didn't work out how they wanted it to. Miami utilizes the people on the inactive/medical issues roster for their benefit more than I've ever seen another team utilize it for that. I'm surprised more teams don't do it.

I think Miami held Herro out longer than he needed to be but can justify it by saying they're being "safe".

They 100% brought him back early to justify brining Herro off the bench; just too many unfortunate injuries this year
