This reminds of the Barkley situation. I remember thinking the Suns were his last stop, yet Houston felt he still had something left in the tank to go with Clyde and Dream. There will be a team or 2 out there that will give Shaq a go, for a last ditch run at a ring.

As I recall the Uns made out pretty well for a past his prime Charles in Sam Cassell, Roberty Horry etc....

I respect Shaq for helping us get r ing..but he will never mean that much to me as a fan, LA is more his legacy.

BTW.. How many games have the heat won this year without Shaq??

Stop blaming Shaq for this teams struggles.... Blame the greedy ownership that couldnt even resign what we had... Hoping that an old Shaq and an injured wade alone could carry a team to the playoffs and make it contenders.... this team is a JOKE, theres no chemistry, no talent, no good coaching.. this team is a mess ans this is NOT Shaq's fault....

+1 on a Shaq trade.... time to leave this boat.. He already bring the Ring here.. lets Win one more somewhere else.. hes not wanted here.. so... like you al say.. lets move on!

Dude...most of us our HEAT FANS, not fans of one player. The franchise needs to do what's best for the TEAM and future not Shaq dude.

Just like we had to lose Glen Rice to get us Zo or lose Lamar, Caron and BG for Shaq..both times that made us better...and thats what its about.

We all show love for former Heaters...but if a good deal opens up for the right price...we take it.

Shaq helped us get the chip man, but there are alot of Heat players that mean more...

Like I said..LA is his Legacy and there is nothing wrong with that.

yeah I only see a deal like the one mentioned earlier with Ben Wallace, Joakim Noah and Chris Duhon for Shaquille Oneal and Smush Parker being even remotely possible.

would Chicago make such a deal when it could ultimately lead to Miami taking the cap space they would gain and throwing it all at Luol Deng?

Literally their are no deals that are able to be put together from any other teams, none that fulfill all angles (Shaq going to a potential contender, us not taking back contracts that go past 2010)

that deal would clearly signal big time rebuilding but if that is the direction we decided to go at least we would see the blueprint for the future beginning to take shape. right now we seem to have no direction whatsoever.

Yeah, Shaq gets 20 mil... he deserves every penny, he promised, he delivered.... now hes cashing out... everybody gets old you know.... get some talent around Shaq, a decent PG that knows how to throw an entry pass and youll see that Shaq has a lot left in him... that or wait for him to get traded so you can see what a motivated Shaq can still do... hard to get motivated in the situation hes in....

Just say no to "I'm ugly and skinny for the NBA coach!" Noah...he's a punk, he's like a wiener dog fighting a pitbull in the NBA and you guys want him? Please...I'd rather keep Shaq.

10000% agree. Shaq promised to bring a champioship to Miami and that's exactly what he did. I bet every single one of us would take it even knowng that we might have 2 crappy years down the road.

Shaq is declining - that's a fact. That happened maybe a little faster than everyone expected, but when surrounded by the right core of players his 15/8 would do fine. We need a PG and a 2nd scorer to pair with Wade and we'll be OK till his contract expires.

I agree that a motivated Shaq might be able to still contribute in a big way in the right team. I just think his contract of 20 million is to much for the Heat.

So it might be best for both parties, Shaq and the Heat to go seperate ways, Shaq might still be the missing piece for another team but they have to realise is a very small window, a year or two at the most. The Heat need to go on full rebuild mode, Shaq should do us a favor and make it easier on us, both parties have different goals, Shaq is probably to play for another title, the Heat have turned into a joke, and need to go in rebuilt mode, as long as Shaq is draining 20 million fromt the Heat, the only way for us to get back is to get a Tim Duncan type of stud in the draft, possible, but rookies take a couple years, even the best to really assert themselves in the league. So Shaq and the Heat will have a very hard time in the next years to come.

And remember, after Wade's contract is over, the year Shaq retires, the way the Heat are a joke, am pretty sure Wade will think about taking his act to another city to play for a real team, if the Heat keep up like this for years to come.

2 years down the road, Wade's contract ends. He will bail out on the Heat, if the Heat show they have no aptitude to get him a real team.

Shaq also promise another Championship last year, how come he didn't deliver?

Wade's not going anywhere. I am convinced he had a wink-wink deal with the Heat to coincide with Shaq's contracts expiring, and bringing in 2 stars with him.

^ I would say yes, but if hsi possible divorce gets messy and Siovahn takes the kids back to chicago, It might be hard for him to to sign there or demand a S&T there so he can see them more often.

then our team's cap is totally tabula rasa, minus a few cheap contracts - DQ, this year's pick, etc... can get 3 max players at the same time...

I hope Shaq agrees to a buyout... He should do this to help the Heat, the heat deff show loyalty to him, so, that way the heat can really get into rebuilding mode a little sooner. I doubt that happens, but you never know.... Wade too deserves a better supporting cast, and i admit Shaqs CONTRACT is the main obstacle. But IMO this front office could had resign AT LEAST Posey.... maybe both Posey and Kapono and still have the MLE to go after mo williams and others.. they just didnt wanted to pay the lux tax... and this is the direct result of being GREEDY, this teams owner has a lot of money, we all know this.. 10 - 15 mill more wouldnt hurt him a lot. This team should be at least a top 4 or 5 team in the east right now....

^ I don't disagree. And I do not think Shaq is done. He's just not motivated and too willing to blame others than to dig deep and find motivation himself. I remember reading articles on Jordan, how at the end he would have to artifically manufacture some hatred for the opposing team to motivate him, and it worked. Like when Zo accidentlayy head butted Pippen and left a bump. Jordan took that and made a fire in him and wouldn't even shake Zo's hands at the beginning of the game in the ECF. But Shaq WILL NOT take a buyout. He believes he took less than market value from the Heat just so they would supply him with talent to off-set his declining skills (ie, take time off). He blames Riley for not keeping his end of the bargain, so he is moping and not playing. Honestly, I don't blame him, and if taking off this year lets his body get some real rest and we can reload with a top pick and FA this summer and Shaq is strong again and motivated, I like our chances. That said, if he simply wants out and we can help set our future around Wade faster now, then a parting makes the most sense.

Seems there was a little more to Shaquille O'Neal's excused five-day absence from the Heat last week.

The team let him go to Los Angeles to see a specialist about his sore left hip. Apparently, O'Neal underwent acupuncture and other new-age treatments. Before that, though, O'Neal was in a snit.

Concerned about sudden reports concerning his potential trade value, O'Neal went to management demanding to know whether he was being shopped. He was told he wasn't, but he didn't seem convinced. He took a plane to Los Angeles the next day.

Besides the hip treatment, O'Neal still is fighting a divorce and has assets in Los Angeles he had to tend to. There is a lot on the big man's plate these days.

I hear Riley calmed his fears by assuring him he had absolutely no trade value.

Even in trying to improve the roster, finances remain an issue. Riley said the Heat is $6 million above the $67.8 million luxury-tax threshold, and ''we've got to find a way to get under the tax by Feb. 20. We're going to try to. [Owner] Micky Arison understands what we tried to do, but the mandate has always been this tax.''

I rest my case......

Psh.

No, what I mean is Russell, Kareem, Moses, Olajuwon are retired and Wilt's dead so yeah, Blount's playing better than them. Just like Blount's playing better than Shaq when Shaq doesn't, you know, actually suit up and play... Which is the talking point Iputsomepantson proposed.
