Bruins Off-Season Thread

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Thu Jun 3, 2010 2:53 pm

Well, it's time to move on. If you can.

The bruins have the second overall pick in the NHL draft, and have a bright future ahead.

Bruins looking to swap picks

ESPN - The Bruins and Oilers are discussing a trade involving the first two picks in this year's NHL Draft.

Edmonton has the first overall selection, while Boston acquired the second pick in a trade with Toronto earlier this season.

The consensus top prizes are Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin, but there is no consensus on who should go No. 1.

"We came out with one guy ahead, but it flip-flopped," Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said Wednesday. "If it was a sizeable enough gap, we would look at a deal. Whatever premium we put on it, their gap might be bigger."

They clearly want hall. Oilers have the upper hand. Hopefully the pity us for the 3-0 debacle and don't make chia give an arm and a leg.

Sorry I'm late on the news, but it's a big trade. Bruins land Nathan Horton for wideman and the 15th overall.

Bruins also get Greg campbell in the deal.

I'm a little hesitant to just assume he will leap forward in his development now that he is here. It will be interesting to see who centers him...probably Savard, Krejci or Seguin I would think.

Big news flying around.

Vlad Sobotka Traded to the st. louis blues for a BU prospect David Warsofsky

Marc Savard and TIm Thomas both waive no trade clauses.

I am cool with timmy going. Don't understand the sobotka trade. I liked him. And don't want savard to go. :(

There are rumours floating around the Leafs/Bruins will be talking Savard, but a few outlets are saying the deal would be one without significant assets coming back to the Bruins (just a method of freeing up cap space). I'm having a hard time believing that based on the fact the last 3 years of Savard's deal are practically nothing (likely to retire) and there's always a market for this type of high-end forward. After July 1st his NMC list expands to 5 teams, so there are more options for the Bruins to shop him and up the asking price. As a Leaf fan I seriously think I'd cream my pants if the deal didn't include any significant pieces going back to Boston - that way we can use Kaberle to acquire another forward or keep him around and re-unite Savard/Kessel.

Montreal
Toronto

Are the two places I'd hate to see him play. Montreal because its Montreal. Toronto because him and phil will rekindle and create magic together.

The Bruins should sign some players that would make their team better than last year.
