Bruins Off-Season Thread--B's trade ward and sign DOMO!

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Sun Jun 14, 2009 6:15 pm

Off-season Moves so far:

Move #9 Bruins sign Derek Morris
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=285661

Move #8: Bruins trade Aaron Ward to Carolina for Patrick Eaves and a 4th rounder
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... urricanes/

Move #7: Bruins re-sign Matt Hunwick
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... signs.html

Move #6: Bruins re-sign Mark Recchi
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283525

Move #5: Bruins re-sign Johnny Boychuk
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... ign_b.html

Move #4: Bruins re-sign Byron Bitz
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... _with.html

Move #3: Bruins sign Steve Begin
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... ing_begin/

Move #2- Bruins extend GM Peter Chiarelli
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bru ... gns_3.html

Move #1- Bruins Re-sign David Krecji

Might as well keep it all in one thread.

Free Agency starts July 1st, the NHL Entry draft comes before that.

So far the B's have re-signed David Krecji. They still have some big names on that list though. Kessel, it would be nice to see him get locked up. Bitz and Hunwick really played surprisingly well for us this year.
I don't see Manny or the long-tenured PJ Axelsson coming back. Recchi and Yelle would be solid re-signings.

I really can't see them being that busy this off-season, as long as they re-sign Kess, which should be there first priority, I will be happy. But with him, Phil, there could be some contract issues, and ya never know which rumor is gonna pop up next.

First juicy rumor of the off-season - Kessel and Bergeron for Danny Heatley.

Main priorities - Sign Kessel, Hunwick, Bitz
Get to - Baby B's
Let Loose - PJ, Manny
Call up Sobotka

Lines are

Lucic Savard Kessel
Sturm Bergeron Kobasew
Wheeler Krejci Ryder
Thorny Sobotka Bitz

Chara Ward
Wideman Ference
Stuart Hunwick

Thomas
Rask

Thats what we are looking at at the start of the season. I say sign Recchi, trade mr. marco sturm to the west and get some young fillers. Pocket the cash and build some chemistry. Our team is so young, we are just going to get better and better.

Lucic, Bergy, Kess, Krejci, Wheeler, Bitz, and Sobotka are just going to get better and better

I agree with the patience part. I liked last years team. A lot. And they are young. No reason they can't go another few years with it.

couple rumors--espn radio mentioned something about guerin wanting to come back to boston.

And

Sources told Sun Media the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins were among the teams submitted to Murray by Heatley’s agents J.P. Barry and Stacey McAlpine.

Take those for what they are worth.

Got this info from KPD in the globe. The failed kessel deal goes as follows:

Chia thought:

Kess
2010 1st

for

Kaberle
7th overall

--------------

Burke thought:

Kess
2010 1st

for

Kaberle

To tell you the truth, thinking kessel will not be back, I would have done either. But I really like kaberle. And want an impact player in return for kessel.

Re: Bruins Off-Season Thread--B's make a couple minor moves

Post#6 » by Celtics_Champs » Thu Jul 2, 2009 10:49 am

Not so busy day for the B's, but they did make some minor moves.

The biggest, was they re-signed byron bitz. I abseoutly love this. Bitz played surprisingly good last year, and it is nice to see him back. 1 of the top 3 rfa's down.

Second minor move, they re-sign Johnny Boychuk. That's good insurance in case hunwick leaves. Speaking of Hunwick he has gained a lot of interest from other teams. Interesting stuff to say the least. I would really like to retain him.

B's lost Steve Montador to the Sabres. Not that big a deal, he didn't really work out here, but it's good to know he caught on somewhere else. He seemed like a cool guy.

As for our F.A. acquisition, Steve Begin, former scab, I mean hab. I really don't like this signing, but whatever.

No news on Kess. More Kaberle rumors, that's about it. I would like to see him back here though. If we re-sign Kess and Hunwick, then that is an AWESOME off-season right there. To retain all your young good players.

There was 4 big RFA's. 2 down, 2 to go.

I am not to huge on Begin either, but how much do you want out of 4th liner. He will play well with bitz, and thornton. I really think that is a great 4th line. They play with such physical tenacity, its going to be a grind it out type of line.

Glad to see the B's resign Boychuk too. This kid is going to be one heck of a defenseman once he gets his feet wet.

Next on the list is get kessel and hunwick signed

Hunwick re-signs!!! 3 down 1 to go.

It's really weird on kessel. Lots of rumors at first that he was gonna be gone. Then quiet for a couple weeks until Chia said he will be back. Then after that all the rumors started up again. Who knows what will happen. But the hockey season is right around the corner!!

quick eklund rumor has the sharks sending cheechoo to us to open up space for them for heatley.

Great to see Hunwick get a well deserved contract. This kid is going to be a top 4 defenseman for us in 1 or 2 years. Once Ward retires or leaves, hunwick will step in.

Damn, you called that huh? :)

Ward has been traded to carolina. Not a fan.

Bruins right after, signed Derek Morris. A fan.

I'm gonna miss ward but this is definitely and upgrade.

B's did a lot of moving and shaking today. I'd love to tell you whats going on with Kess, but I have no friggen clue.

Too add more to this. Eaves is expected to be bought out. The weird thing is, ward had a lower cap hit, than morris does with us now. So this had absolutely nothing to do with a kessel deal in my opinion. Someone or him, will be moved before the start of camp.

Very strange day. I really thought that by trading ward that was the Que to us finially signing kess. I like morris, but i do think we over paid him slightly. Regardless Ward will be missed, bu Morris is still a solid hockey player.

FWIW, Yahoo Sports is now reporting the hockeybuzz rumor of Heatley to the sharks, and the sharks talking to the bruins and habs for cap space. Which means we could get Cheechoo sent this way. I don't know what that would mean for kessel.

Then again, this is just a hockeybuzz rumor.

The kessel rumors are simply just rumors in my book. I just want to see us sign this kid and get it over with.

Tghe only way we can sign him though is by trading ference and kobasew. And I will be very dissapointed if we get rid of Kobasew. He is a hell of a worker.

CC check oout boston globes bruin forums on the website. Much more busier than here lol
