Flames Aquire Aucoin

Well Sportsnet is saying its done Aucoin just has to waive his no trade clause.

Personally its an ok move.

Pros: Played well under Keenan and played best with Hamrlik way back when.
4 Mil is relatively cheap now adays for a player his calibre.

Cons: He is old
Long term deal
Mildly expensive- the flames have more pressing needs next off season like Iggy Phanuef Kipper Langkow Huselius

For next season it will work but in upcoming not so much.

Personally I liike the deal for this year, especially after seeing what Timmonen got. There are a lot of teams out there that are looking for d-man, however I don't like the contract, especially heading into next season. And I don't like the fact that he is injury prone. This all but means Hammer and Stuart are as good as gone. We needed a defenseman, and I hated Zuzyn, so I guess its an alright deal.

I don't think we'll get Stuart back here at a reasonable price, we'll have to overpay and I definitely don't want that to happen. We have more pressing needs next year. I'd rather we go after a veteran d-man that knows our system.

well I don't honestly get why he won't take a pay cut he grew up near Calgary, and rooted for Calgary growing up and I don't know one player that would'nt take a play cut to play for the team he idolised growing up.

I know the situation with his wife and all but I mean if I were him I would want to stay in Calgary.

moose what would you say fair market price for him is right now? Id say about 5

I'd say resonable would be around 5 for 3-4 years, nothing over that. But what do I think he'll get? probably around 6-7 mil a year for 4-5 years. The market for a defenseman has been set by Timmonen

If he plays the cards in his favour and delays signing a little and bluffs to teams he can get 6.5 mil IMO. At best fair market is 5 though.
