It was originally pitched as a standalone show.

López says she initially pitched an idea for a project called Night Country, which she describes as "a murder mystery in the ice," and it was HBO who suggested it could be True Detective instead — an idea she says never even crossed her mind.

I honestly think if they made this exactly as is, without the true detective tie in, it would have been watched less, but liked more.

I enjoyed Monsieur Spade on AMC+. If you don't want another channel, you can get a 7-day free trial and binge it. 6 episodes.

I would be worried if I hadn't already given up on this movie three years ago.

Same. Going in with super low expectations.

We wrapped up The Sopranos yesterday, and it was funny to see my wife flip out at the ending in the same way that so many did back then.

Now we've moved on to The Last Kingdom, which I've heard received rave reviews.

Sopranos ending = GOAT

Hated the Sopranos ending. Insipid.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I neither hated nor loved the Sopranos ending, but I think it's Exhibit A on how it's so difficult to reach a satisfying conclusion of a great show, as well as the fact that a lot of people absolutely hate ambiguous finales, i.e. "but I need to be told exactly what happened!!"

That said, The Leftovers has the GOAT ending....

I watched the first couple episodes of The Leftovers then skipped to the finale. Good show.

I like the overall concept, but the editing and punching in of the music was hamfistedly executed. Should have been a cinematographer's finest moment. Lost opportunity.

"The Shield" ending was great. I love the close to "Freaks and Geeks" and "Terriers" handled the soft cancel with aplomb but only 6 of you bastards ever watched it.

I have a soft spot for "Lights Out," a boxing drama on FX that was wildly up and down but had a devastating final scene.

What about the Six Feet Under ending? That has to be top 5

That's the other end of the spectrum - being so explicit with how things end with the various characters it leaves no doubt.

I enjoyed it, though.

I didn't like the Sopranos ending when it happened, but I've seen grown to appreciate it. I also think there's enough evidence/hints out there for me to feel comfortable with my view of how it actually ended.

Spoiler:
Tony 100% gets capped by the man in the members only jacket.

Spoiler:
For sure.

Tony's dead. The show's over. Did people really want to see his brains splattered all over his family?

It was perfect.

The Americans and Mad Men both had great endings. For sitcoms, I always go with Mary Tyler Moore.

I liked the ending to Breaking Bad. Did not like the Seinfeld ending. Hated the GOT ending.

Freaks and Geeks as well as The Good Place are two of my all time fave finales
