Feel bad for Kobe but this is karma for the treatment the Lakers have been getting from the league/refs.

Usually a one year recovery time injury. And for an NBA guard, he's going to potentially lose a lot of burst. Yeah, he could be done. But then again, he's Kobe. He won't want to go out this way.

He's owed $30 million next season. If they amnesty him, it saves them probably $50 million in luxury tax payments. So he gets amnestied.

You can resign your own amnesty one year later. So if he decides to come back in 2014, they can sign him for whatever they can afford under the cap.

Wow, had no clue this happened till I saw this thread title.

Somehow, I doubt it's the end for him. He has way too big of an ego to go out like that.

No, it's not.

1. Karma does not exist.

2. If karma did exist, why would Kobe deserve this? He's not giving himself the calls.

Actually this will be good Karma as usual for the Lakers. They will save $50 million (I didn't do the exact calcs) and be able to now rebuild without any fan pressure of how they treat Kobe.

Perhaps, but they will hopefully miss the playoffs now and financial mess aside, they are likely going to be awful next year without Kobe.

Lakers can sign and trade Pau for Josh Smith and Devin Harris or something like that. And find another guard who will sign for cheap if they want to. The will come out of this smelling like a rose. They always do.

I also wouldn't count them out of the playoffs either.

#prayforkobe trending on Twitter. Okay, #prayforeware I can understand. But this guy's a millionaire with 5 championship rings. He'll survive this injury that countless other athletes endure every year.

I respect the guy but can't stand him or the Lakers. But injuries are ****, specially to athletes and I wouldn't wish them upon any of them.

I doubt Kobe's done but who knows.

Lakers are done without him though.

I'm sad. You never want to see a great player go out like that.

Lakers don't tank though, they just re-tool. They've had one under .500 season in like the last decade plus.

They'll always find the good players to get there and they'll always make some suspect trades that favor them heavily.
