Win Now

Post#1 » by eagle13 » Wed May 15, 2013 10:27 pm

We have threads for “trade for picks” (basically rebuild) & “kohl spend money” & “planning for championship in 2016” (basically rebuild). Now a thread for “Win Now”

WIN NOW (50+ wins / 4th seed)

In this scenario
*First Bucks create more cap space by not re-signing any of their UFA.
*Bucks make several draft related trades in the days leading up to draft day.
*Initially Bucks move several veterans out to teams able to absorb salaries creating more cap space and gathering more picks.
*Bucks then use their plentiful cap space to absorb salaries of players obtained in trades w/ teams in or near luxury tax or needing cap space to re-sign a key player in exchange for only draft picks.
*Bucks make one late 1st round pick.
*Bucks use cap space to sign several free agents.
*Finally the Bucks rework Sanders deal to reach minimum salary requirement.
*Final roster has only 4 players (2 starters) returning from last year.

WALK
Ellis, Reddick, Dalembert, Dunleavy, Daniels, Pryzbilla
AMNESTY
Gooden

TRADES
1. BJ & Moute & 2nd - UT - 1st/14 & 1st/21
2. Udoh & 2nd - ATL - 1st/20
3. 15 & 20 & Ayon – LAC- Bledsoe & 26
4. 14 & 21 – DEN- Chandler & 27 -(Nugz are on fringe of lux tax)
5. 27 –MN- Stiemsma –(Wolves need cap room to resign Pekovic)

FREE AGENCY
Josh Smith-60m/4y
Martel Webster-18m/3y
Nate Robinson-2m/1y
Jon Leuer-1.2m/1y
Matt Barnes-1.2m/1y
Ron Brewer-1.2m/1y

REWORK
Larry Sanders is in the last year of his current contract which pays $3.1m. To use this year’s cap space and meet the team’s minimum salary requirement - Rework the last year into new deal - 44m/4yrs.

ROSTER---------salary-age-mpg
Larry Sanders----11.0 – 24 - 32
Ersan Illysova-----7.9 – 26 - 28
Josh Smith -------15.0 – 28 - 34
Wilson Chandler--6.3 – 26 - 34
Eric Bledsoe-------2.6 – 23 - 34

Martel Webster---6.0 – 27 - 28
John Henson------1.9 – 22 - 26
Nate Robinson----2.0 – 28 - 14
Greg Stiemsma---2.3 – 27 - 10
Matt Barnes------1.2 – 28
Ron Brewer------1.2 – 28
Jon Leuer---------1.2 – 23
Ish Smith---------1.0 – 24
1st/26 -------------1.2

PAYROLL=$60.8
Room to re-sign Bledsoe next year

TEAM ANALYSIS
Strengths= defense, rebounding, shot blocking, 3 pt shooting, passing. PGs are good at creating for others and driving to the rim.
Weaknesses= few can create shots for themselves. Interior scoring is dependent on the development of Sanders and Henson and somewhat on Smith.

Not sure all of this is realistic. Count me in the burn it down crowd.

Was a new thread necessary?

Generally - i'm all for rebuild but its highly unlikely So this addresses Kohl's direction.

Regarding my proposal specifically - teams like Miami & Brooklyn had major turnover. I do not count on many big time FA signings. The only big time FA signed - Smith is realistically in play. The trades are realistic if anything we overpay some but that means the other team does it.

How is a win now proposal relevant to a rebuild thread?

I'd like to see proposals & discussion about win now strategies which is different from the many rebuild threads.

This is comical. A "Win Now" thread would be appropriate for next year, not 2016.
Just another thread failure

Free yourself of Jennings, Ellis and Redick.

Overpay Paul Pierce after the Celtics buy him out.

Overpay David West.

Overpay Kevin Martin.

Devin Harris

Ronnie Brewer

Picks

Team
Devin Harris/Ish Smith
Martin/first rnd pick
Pierce/Ronnie Brewer
West/Arsen
Sanders/Udoh

That's horrible, but they'd win in the East.

Figured this could have gone in the "If Kohl has to spend money this summer.... (your plan)" thread. That's not a rebuild thread.

And your plan for win now is pretty good (if we absolutely had to go that direction)

Agreed. The Kohl has money thread is perfect for this
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
