Mayo signs with Bucks - 3 years/$24 million per Woj

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Sat Jul 6, 2013 1:35 am

Mayo here apparently

I still don't think we have a clue what we are doing in building a team, but 3/$24 I can easily live with. Fair contract for him.

Free agent guard O.J. Mayo has agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Mayo, 25, will be a replacement for the loss of guard J.J. Redick and the expected departure of Monta Ellis. The Bucks agreed to send Redick to the Los Angeles Clippers in a sign-and-trade deal.

Mayo averaged 15.3 points and 4.4 assists for the Dallas Mavericks last season.

Only 3 years, still has a bit of upside, better than Ellis, and a reasonable deal. Can't get too mad about this one.

Solid contract and he'll be in his 20's throughout the entirety of the deal. He actually has a good jump shot, which should supposedly fit in with Drews system. Go get Teague and it'll be a midly intriguing offseason.

I like it as long as Jennings is gone or back for the QO only. Jennings and Mayo for 3yrs could be torturous.

BOOM goes the dynamite, only 3 years at 8 per. I feared worse.
And those nimrods offered Ellis an extension at 12 per? Un f$ckingbelievable.

I hope he gets a lot better, because he's been a net-negative guy thus far.

I like him.

I look at him as a slightly better version of Ellis. In just about every dept. Including a little bit more size, a little younger and a little more upside.

Granted not the brightest guy from a BBIQ standpoint, but we are the Bucks none the less. We aren't getting a non flawed player. Most certainly not via FA.

Has to go down as our best FA signing. How sad is that?

I really like this deal. I thought for sure they were going to have to pay him $10+ million a year. I'm just happy Ellis won't be the starting SG anymore.

In other news Calderon just signed with Dallas for about the same money per year as Mayo. Dallas was really the only other suitor I saw for Jennings. So Jennings takes QO or signs for around $8 million per year?

Im actually very happy with this deal. 8 mil a years is not bad at all! Now we have to decide if we are gonna keep douch $WAG or sign Teague... Id like to see them go after Darren Collison much cheaper and is just as good as Jennings.

Getting him for 3 years is huge. Short enough contract to keep him motivated for his next one. I'm guessing we wanted him for 4 years and he finally gave in on his price demands but then wanted 3 years instead of 4. Double-Win for us!
