Frankly, I could use some education on the rules and how zones have been working in the NBA over the last few years, but it seems to me like this team was built for it.
In a traditional 1-3-1, you ideally have a long-armed rover at the top to disrupt things (Giannis), a mobile shot-blocker in the middle (Saunders), wings that can move a little bit, but also cover the post (Parker and Ersan or Middleton) and a bottom guy that can close out on shooters and run like hell (Knight or Wolters).
Granted, part of the reason I'm asking if this is feasible in today's NBA is because our man to man defense is going to be a sieve, but also because we do seem to have the length to play a zone effectively and keep our more talented offensive players on the floor.
Thoughts?
