If all goes well, we should not expect Parker to be back at full strength at the start of 2015-16 training camp, which is only 9 months from now.

He should be at full strength by the start of the 2016-17 season, assuming a recovery period of 12-18 months. We don't want him to be one of the professional athletes that shortened his playing career by returning too soon.

Parker could absolutely be 100% by the time November rolls around.

He could be 100%. Or he could have his career shortened by returning too soon.

Most NBA players have needed a full year or longer to get back to 100% after ACL surgery.

Little background/experience of the surgeon who performed Jabari's surgery.

So weird you guys have orthopods that operate on multiple joints. In Aus, you're a knee specialist, upper limb specialist (that would be the biggest number of joints), hip specialist.

I'd really like to see Jabari on court around dec/jan next year.

Good luck to Jabari on his rehab and I'm hoping this ends up a blessing in disguise for him.

In what scenario could this possibly be a blessing in disguise?

Because he's very young and could come back with an even stronger knee. It's also possible the injury changes his life in other ways, including diet, confidence, etc.

My repaired knee is stronger than the other at this point. As I worked through rehab, I spent time working on my jumper and form since running and cutting was still off the table. I also rebuilt my diet and workout regiment and have come back stronger than I was prior to my injury. In my experience, the mental side of coming back from the injury was the hardest part and now that I'm back, I feel I've overcome a significant challenge and my overall confidence and demeanor have improved.

It's amazing how blessed you feel to walk after you cannot. And also to run and play ball again... it's a blessing. Life is a blessing.

Anyway I just hope he has a very positive recovery process and I'm optimistic he can come back a powerful player.

I've heard of players getting Tommy John coming back from surgery with stronger elbow ligaments. I don't think I've ever heard the same for ACLs. That's just me, though.

The surgeries were yesterday, correct? I take it that there has been no public announcements on how things went

It all depends on the type of ligament used and how your body accepts it. But we have heard from some in the medical profession that the new ligament could end up being better.

This is all a crapshoot though. I still would like to know if they found more damage to other parts of the knee yesterday. They didn't issue a timetable for his recovery, which is fine. But we all know that the period could run from 6-months to 15 months depending on what they found and did during the procedure.

Well let's hope Jabari gets the super knee and not the poopy downgraded knee.

I'm not expecting him to be 100% until the beginning of 2016-17. To give a UW basketball example, Josh Gasser tore his ACL in late October 2012. Even though it was before that season started, he definitely wasn't 100% the following season which started 12 months later. We are looking at less than 10 months until the next training camp from Parker's injury. I'd say at earliest we are looking for him back to 100% on the court middle of 2015-16, but likely later than that.

My surgeon said there is more risk to my other knee than my repaired knee. I suppose I could be an outlier but I'm still very optimistic for Parker's return both on the court and in his own mind.

But like others have said, depending on the injury, I would hope he takes his time coming back.

I'd like to know if he's on crutches and for how long.

For reference I used my own patellar tendon and was on crutches for 6 weeks, due to the meniscus repair. I also don't expect him back for the beginning on next season.

It's not just about the ligaments being stronger. It's about strengthening the muscles that will take pressure off the ligament and improving muscle coordination so it doesn't happen again. There are specific training regiments for preventing ACL tears now. They can hook up biometric sensors and have Jabari run through his normal crossover/euro step moves. They'll be able to judge the twisting of the knee and see how he can avoid that. I'm sure they've already done it by watching the injury happen. And since the Bucks have said ACL twice, I'm assuming that's all it is.
