Re: Michael Carter-Williams: PG of the future?
I still like the potential that MCW brings to the table, most notably his size and willingness to be a distributer. I also see an aggressive streak in him, which I like, and I honestly think he can become an elite finisher at the rim.
I am going to withhold judgment until he has an entire off-season of working with Kidd under his belt. I also want to see how he plays with a healthy roster, and how he improves Jabari's game.

Not sure if this has been covered in this thread, or if it deserves its own.
Damien Inglis: he seems like a much better prospect than MCW, though neither NCAA- or NBA-tested. Coming back from injury, if we inserted Inglis into the starting PG position, would he be a bigger net positive than MCW?
They both seem to have similar red flags: jumpshot, shaky ball-handling in the halfcourt. Similar positives in defensive ceiling, athleticism for their size, rebounding ability, etc.
Right now, I'm not sold on anyone being a PG with as broken of a jumper as MCW. If we can sneak into the mid-late lotto by moving him, or somehow get into the top 6 by packaging our 1st-rounder, I'm more than happy banking on Inglis, at 19, piecing everything together than I am relying on MCW's brain and broken jumper to suddenly start clicking.

You're thinking of playing Inglis at PG? I'd much rather continue the MCW experiment.

He's having a heck of an April.
Ever since the Bucks have focused on his post up play, he's been excellent.

If you are a rational person, you wouldn't have judged him after being traded mid-season 10 games into his Bucks tenure.
Thankfully, everyone on this board was level headed and didn't do that..........
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

I'm still pro-MCW, but this got a chuckle out of me.

Yeah. I was just trying to be funny. I'm not a huge fan, but I think he'll be an average NBA player off the bench.

The funny thing is I may be as anti-MCW as anyone next year. I've just said I'm not making a judgement on him before I get to see him after a full off-season and training camp under Kidd.
If he's garbage next year, I'll call a spade a spade. But hes had to come into a pressure-filled situation as the starting PG in his second season without knowing our offense or players.
Time will tell the truth on his game. At least we have him on the cheap for the next few years.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

No we judged him on the basis of his career.

Yet we got him at a Target price, and that's a lot better than the crap they peddle at Wal-Mart.

From everything I've heard, Inglis is a SF and has in no way been mentioned as a PG/facilitator. Might be a better prospect than MCW, but they don't play the same position. I'm open to being wrong in that characterization, so flame on if I'm mistaken.

Re: Michael Carter-Williams: PG of the future?
MCW has talent, he's shown ability to be a decent starting pg in this league. Unfortunately his bad is really bad but of late he appears to have improved and I do hope it's a sign that the coaching staff is beginning to have an influence.
My optimism is still tentative right now but given he is on a rookie contract still and not costing us anything I guess I don't get why there is so much hate for him from some posters with not even a fraction of hope given to him.
Is he a great fit? I'm still leaning towards no for our future but I'm not completely writing him off and the last week is reason enough to believe he has some hope.

I mean, I don't base my opinions of him on an award they give out largely based on peripheral stats but just wanted to point out the guy hasn't been an absolute scrub as some suggest.
He has flaws in his game, we all know that. If he was polished as a player, Hinkie wouldn't have entertained a trade proposal. It's up to Kidd to get the best out of him. Let's start on his shot this off-season, please.
Either way, I'm taking MCW for the next 5 years over Knight.

MCW would be a really good PG on a team that has shooters. A team like the Rockets would be perfect.
