ESPN Mark Stein: Bucks to pursue Tyson Chandler and Brook Lopez

You can appreciate Ersan in the other thread. This is the one where the action will be today. 8-)

League sources say that the Bucks want a proven center in free agency if they can score one and have pinpointed two kinds of former All-Stars -- Dallas' Tyson Chandler and Brooklyn's Brook Lopez -- as targets for the top of their wish list.

Bucks coach Jason Kidd knows both of them well, having played alongside Chandler in both Dallas and New York and having coached Lopez with the Nets. And word is that Milwaukee intends to chase both hard come July 1 in hopes of emerging as a serious contender for at least one of them.

Tyson Chandler is such a great fit for this team. Lopez is intriguing, but that dude never passes the rock and is always hurt. Give me the gritty veteran who is a perfect fit for our defensive system, can really rebound (Lopez can't) and of course will bring more veteran leadership for the young guys to learn from.

Lopez definitely has some allure as well, though. Adding an offensive center with his skillset would do a lot for our offense.

I would much rather see us get Chandler. I can just picture giving Lopez a big contract only for him to be injured again.

God no Lopez. He is injury prone expensive and horrible defender. Not to mention not a plus rebounder and a black hole ball stopper on offense. God please no no NO! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Signing Lopez would be a total Kohl move and make me hate Kidd. Chandler I can live with but would much rather take a chance on a young unproven guy like Koufus or KOQ.

So much for "going young" and "building the team organically"

Also, Chandler look alarmingly done at times this season and will be 33 before next season.

These are not inspiring rumors.

Stein is plugged in. Then again could be a ruse with our target someone else.

I'd be upset with either one of those guys.

Yeah, it's hard for me to believe these three are our targets. I think the goal was to make get us on the radar as "buyers".

God if this is true it makes me worry for the future of this team. If we sign a old middle tier vet to a large contract it would seem Kidd is the GM in all but name. He would make way to many short sighted win now moves that could ruin this team. Sorry was really happy with the trade but this rumor worries me.

I wonder how much Chandler would cost. He's coming off a contract where he made 14 million (signed with NY originally). Soon to be 33, but averaged 10 and 11.5 last year. 2/24?

Please no to Brook. Chandler is interesting depending on the price.

Also interesting to note in the article, says Dudley, whether he opts in or not, intends to be in Milwaukee either way. Love that.
