2016 Draft Thread - Ford Mock #2 (pg 19)

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Tue Aug 25, 2015 5:47 pm

It's that time of year again, folks.

1 - Philly - Ben Simmons
2 - Minnesota - Skal Labissiere
3 - Denver (via pick swap with NYK) - Jaylen Brown
4 - Philly (via LAL) - Jamal Murray
5 - Toronto (via NYK) - Dragan Bender
6 - Orlando - Brandon Ingram
7 - Boston (via BKN) - Malik Pope
8 - Sacramento - Malik Newman
9 - Portland - Ellenson
10 - Phoenix - Cheick Diallo
11 - Detroit - Jakob Poeltl
12 - New Orleans - Furkan Korkmaz
13 - Indiana - Kris Dunn
14 - Utah - Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk
15 - Boston - Ivan Rabb
16 - Boston (via Dallas) - Zhou Qi
17 - Milwaukee - Stephen Zimmerman - C - 7'0" - 234 lbs - UNLV
The Bucks landed a major free-agent coup this summer in Greg Monroe, but they still are pretty thin in the middle behind him. The Bucks could go a couple of directions here, but Zimmerman offers the most upside. He's mobile, athletic and very skilled. He'd be good gamble here for the Bucks, who really just need a big man who can play 10 to 15 minutes a night behind Monroe.

18 - Toronto - Domantas Sabonis
19 - Washington - Diamond Stone
20 - Philly (via MIA) - Grayson Allen
21 - New Orleans - Chris LeVert
22 - Atlanta - Damian Jones
23 - Chicago - Demetrius Jackson
24 - Memphis - Nigel Hayes
25 - Philly (via OKC) - Justin Jackson
26 - LAC - Isaiah Briscoe
27 - Denver (via HOU) - Chinanu Onuaku
28 - San Antonio - Jalen Brunson
29 - Phoenix (via CLE) - Tyler Dorsey
30 - Golden State - Egemen Guven

Zimmerman would be great at #17, though I'd have a hard time passing on Sabonis.

Interesting that Stone is 19 and Ellenson is 10. I would've thought the would be flipped based on the recruiting attention (Granted Ellenson signed early and HS rankings aren't NBA projections)

Cool to see the names listed on who will be available but kind of useless for us now since we will be drafting 20+ IMO and those names will constantly be changing

At first glance, a very weak draft.

Agreed. To me this looks like the Ben Simmons Draft, then a few high(ish) upside guys followed by about 15 guys you hope can be solid role players.

I don't know who anybody is, but if we pass on Sabonis and Diamond Stone that would be not smart to me.

The top 5, maybe 10, when it's all said and done, will be about as good as it gets. Simmons, Labissiere, and Bender are grade A prospects. You got strong bigs, who have good enough athleticism, and can also stretch the floor some in Ellenson, Stone, and Rabb. Super-skilled guards like Murray and Newman. Dynamic, versatile wings like Brown and Ingram. Toward the top of the class, they're really talented. If it's a strong top 10 or so is going to depend on things like measurements, who fits in to the team concept, if a couple sleepers emerge, and things like that. But no doubt there are some blue-chippers here. Not that it should help us drafting where we project. Last draft it was a good place, this one probably not.

The Stone thing could be interesting due to the presence of Monroe. If our team is humming come April with Monroe in the lineup, it might make sense to draft his replacement in June. The big thing I don't see with Stone that Monroe will provide is playmaking. Stone is closer to Jefferson in that regard.

His ability to handle the ball for a guy his size is very impressive. I'm very excited to watch him play this year for Marquette.

In the likely range the Bucks will pick: Kris Dunn http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kris-Dunn-6440/

That's near the range he was expected to go this past draft, before he withdrew.

Besides Simmons, love love love me some Brandon Ingram. Length and stroke remind me of Durant.
