There have been too many musical deaths so far this year and now add the guitarist from one of my favorite bands who passed away unexpectedly over the weekend. Riverside's album "Fear, Love and the Time Machine" was my favorite album of 2015 and contained this song which contains the following prophetic lyrics...

Where are you now my friend?
I miss those days
I hope they take good care
Of you there
And you can still play the guitar
And sing your songs

Just fyi, the Davey Havok to No Doubt thing isn't really going to be No Doubt.

“I actually first heard about it on the Internet…they’re doing like, a side project, they wanna do a band, they wanna be in a punk band, so…it’s not No Doubt. All the guys from No Doubt are doing a new band, just to do new music,” Stefani said to Kimmel.

http://www.movienewsguide.com/gwen-stefani-clears-confusion-no-doubt-not-replacing-different-davey-havok/163359

Havok's done a few other side projects. Son of Sam, a group which tried to copy the Misfits even harder than AFI during their "goth punk" days and then Blaqk Audio, a project with another AFI member that's heavily electronic and does some 80's worship.

Henry is a nice guy, he fronts a goofy band called Wagons that are a kind of Americana country rock thing that are pretty great live. He's dropped a solo album that he camped out in Nashville to put together, this track is off that and is far, far, far more serious than I've heard him and I kind of like it quite a lot.

A buddy of mine in Singapore caught a Bon Iver show there recently and said it was wonderful and they played to a packed house.

Thought I'd let you guys know as I assume you all know Justin and would be happy to hear he's doing well.

I went from thinking I wouldn't even bother streaming/playing up the new 1975 album after hearing the first single (worst song on the album), to "meh" after first listen, to thinking it's one of the best things I've heard in a long time. Not incredibly different than their first, but they've done really well at packaging Michael Jackson/Bowie/80s sounding stuff, adding some gravitas, and making it sound current. Can't put the album down now.

His apartment (one of them, at least) is next door to mine.

I don't like his music much.

Anyway, I'm going to name my firstborn Spotify Weekly DrugBust. Every Monday is music Christmas. Some stuff I'm liking lately:
