He's very Giannis like in that respect. Just stupid fouls that take you out of the game.

LOL at that call. I'm not sure Nigel even touched him, he just threw himself to the court and got the call.

EDIT: He definitely didn't touch him at all.

Come on Happ, you had Pritzl wide open in the corner there.

Thanks Turgeon for not bringing Trimble back for the last 5 minutes. That is insanity but I'll take it.

I thought the same! Wtf! There was 5 minutes and a 8-10 point lead, thats plenty of time for a comeback. But I'll take it.

Pritzl earned minutes today, he should play much more.

Easily our best win so far. Nice to see Koenig finally get going. He really opens the offense when he is on.

And how dumb was Turgeon for sitting Trimble. Lol

I think they are maybe trying to limit his minutes? Strange to punt the game so early but I thought I had heard something like that and he must have decided to give up.

Pritzl was great today. Still drives me bonkers they don't run plays for him to get open from deep, though (although Happ, Showalter, and Nigel all missed him on separate possessions when he was open). Loved to see his tough nose under the basket.

Nigel didn't suck which was a bonus. By the end of the game, with his strong second half, he ended up with a good game. Bronson had a good second half, too, which was encouraging.

Happ was great again.

Watched the game at a friend's house while wrangling three kids so I couldn't watch too closely. It sure seemed we were playing 8 on 5 whenever Melo Trimble had the ball. They were officiating him like prime MJ. Despite that, we played a great second half. Definitely the best half since Penn State. Pritzl seems to have a lot of Ben Brust in him with those unexpected, yet incredibly clutch rebounds. Trice looked more comfortable and wasn't pressing as much. Marylands execution of the hard double was inconsistent and poorly done. Plus, we adjusted by having Happ catch higher and dribble out of it which seems like the best option.

Great to see overall.

Pritzl played like he was 6'8" at times. Would be great for him to become a regular contributor down the stretch

Other than matchups, I wonder why Pritzl's minutes are so erratic. 23 vs NEB, 6 v NW, 0 v MU, 23 today.

Gard claimed it was for defensive purposes. I think he's officially earned a full-time spot in the rotation even if he really is a liability in some aspects of defense.

2 other notes:
1. Agree that they need to run more plays for him but Pritzl also needs to shoot the damn ball more. Even if his shot isn't really falling yet, a semi-contested 3 from Pritzl is much more efficient than Nigel plowing into the lane.
2. I know that there was talk of conditioning way earlier in the year as to wanting to ease him back in after a year away, and I have no idea if this relates, but on that run out pass to him that he threw off of Trimble to keep the ball, he seemed gassed unless he was just setting up that play. But it seemed like if he sprinted it was his ball to lose.

Gard is pretty heavily matchup based and it made some sense, but it became clear to me a few games back that he was the best option we have besides Iverson and Trice.

I would give Pritzl all of Charlie Thomas and Jordan Hill's minutes and keep it to a tight 7 rotation with spare minutes for the rest exactly like today.

Another thing I noticed, we handled the double (Happ handled the double) much better. Better outlet passes from the post and more dribbling out of the post and not into terrible spots. Nigel is notorious for trying to take baseline only to pick up his dribble and throw it away or act like he got fouled and lose the ball/take an awful shot.

At first, I figured they were giving him a quick breather before the under 4 TO, but they were down what? 10 or 12? And he was basically their whole offense in the 2nd half. I thought it didn't make much sense to give up so early?

I did want to point out that Pritzl got yanked out of the game against northwestern for not trying to come back to the ball after Happ got doubled. On his dunk, Happ got doubled and he cut to the basket for the And 1. Great play that sparked us a bit.

You guys watching on TV probably had a better view than me at the game, but I didn't think it was remotely playable for him when the pass was made. I was amazed he even managed to run it down to make the play he did.

Yeah, I watched it again and it's hard to tell. I just remember the first time thinking that he wasn't giving full effort even though it was thrown too far ahead. Both guys may have been going a bit slower to try to figure out what the other was going to do, I don't know.
