Tempe wasn't part of the Gadsden Purchase.

Pretty sure that was part of the Gadzuric purchase.

I lean towards Jefferson Davis myself.

I mean, his NCAA coach qualifications are mediocre at best. 30-28 as coach of Brown. 93-104 as coach of Oregon State. Never even made the NIT much less the NCAA Tournament.
Good thing we're hiring him as a VP of Player and Organizational development and not a Head Coach then.
Yes, good thing he got promoted after failingat his last job.
This isn't political, hell I volunteered on the Obama campaign during the 08 primaries, but this is a crony hire.

There are a lot of people who have "Harvard"' "Goldman Sachs", "Google" etc. and get immediate respect for it.
But what you have to ask is, what did this person do there? Who hired them and why? How did they contribute? How long did they stay at said place?
Part of the modern world today is a scam game based on getting names on your resume to get hired so you can get paid again at a different "name place". In the meantime you don't do much real work. People just assume you're good because of the names on the resume.
Ok, with that comment out of the way, I don't know much about this guy, so he might be very good in this role. Just noting I wouldn't assume anyone massively qualified because their resume is loaded with "names".
Eh, Brown has been playing basketball for over 100 years and have never won as many games as the 19 Robinson coached them to before he got the Oregon State job. Likewise his 21 win season there was the winningest in Corvallis in the past 25 years. That's part of his resume. It's not just a list of names.
And although you're right about the respect you can get from having a school like Harvard on your resume, there is a good reason for that. The talent that gathers at places like that is no scam. It's very real. Like anyplace, there are exceptions, but it's really not that hard to pick them out.
