6 players in the league played over 36 minutes a game last season, it's a little ridiculous.

If any of MAP miss games even for a relatively short period of time I'm concerned we'll be far too reliant on the other two playing more minutes than what would be best for their development or us winning games.

If MCW or Brogdon can log significant minutes defending 3's it might be less of a deal. But I don't know how likely that is.

Big difference btw MCW breaking out as a Tony Allen style defender vs being a ball hog in his contract year -- as well as Brogdon being ready to be a rotation player at 23 vs him experiencing the normal pitfalls of a rookie learning how to defend at NBA level.

Just found this awesome Teletovic play.

PS: I've graduated to sixth man status. It feels great to get off the bench.

Just realised that Bucks have currently a deep roster. Many teams after their 7-8 player , their is a huge gap in players value.
The Dellavedova, Teletovic signs were really great. Plumlee resign and Monroe to a backup role is a + too.
We have at least 10 players with good to great value.

We must be careful though with our contracts on reserves.

Remember many of you said that the 10m/y player is the new 3m/y role player?

It seems like it is not going that way. Star and good players are absorbing the cap raise, and get 25m-30m / y ... So 2 star players is nearly half of the teams cap. Which leaves the roster poor. That is why Delly's and Telly's contracts are really good for starters. We are still lucky to have Giannis and Jabari on rookie contracts and the Bucks must take advantage of it.

We did and I am really optimistic for a playoff appearance.

Kidd played his main guys more minutes than other coaches play their main players in similar situations. I can choose to think that Kidd is brilliant or I can choose to think that he might be overworking them a bit for no good reason.

but I don't think Kidd is brilliant, so . . .

All those not brilliant coaches who played Hall of Famers for close to 40 minutes for 10+ consecutive years and won rings in the process are sad by your comment.

Find me a player that averaged 40 minutes a game for 10 years, who played after he 1970s.

Your perspective is not justified by reality.

Keep Monroe for this year. He did these on starters, imagine what he can do to backups.

Just because certain guys stay healthy playing huge minutes doesn't mean that playing huge minutes doesn't increase the risk of injury. Just because Nolan Ryan could throw 250 pitches in a game, doesn't mean that didn't increase the risk of injury.

PG
Delly
24mins, up to 34mins if hes playing well and hitting open shots
MCW
24mins, up to 34, down to 14. his role could be changing every game. depends on dellys performance, if he can play with delly and if anyone can play the backup SG spot
Ennis
only gets in because of injuries, foul trouble, lop sided games

SG
khris
minimum of 32mins
Terry / Brogdon / Vaughn
16mins, up to 26
i think MCW will get the first shot at backup SG minutes.
i expect Terry, not to be able to do anything.
Vaughn was completely broke in summer league.
Brogdon is just a smart smooth player. if he can hit shots on an average level, i expect him to win the minutes

SF
Giannis
35mins. but i also see him taking some time at PF and C.
Novak
only gets in because of injuries, foul trouble, lop sided games.
i dont expect him able to do anything.
maybe Xavier bumps him off the team

PF
Jabari
32mins minimum.
Telly
limited mins with Jabari. but the remaining mins after J and G get theres. 16mins
Thon
only gets in because of injuries, foul trouble, lop sided games

C
Plumlee
20mins. up to 30mins based on his effectiveness, and the other players joint effectiveness
Monroe
20 to 34mins. see above, it "should" affect his mins
Henson
only gets in because of injuries, foul trouble, lop sided games. we'll see if we trade Monroe.

Good post.
I agree in most of your rotation.
Could you explain the MCW to backup SG position?
Like, who is the PG when MCW plays SG ? If it is Terry, our opinions match. I have Terry - MCW but swapped position.
If you think it is Ennis, or Giannis, I will have to disagree. If Ennis starts hitting 3s, yes we could see MCW at SG.
Imo one from Ennis,Vaughn,Brogdon,Terry who shoots the 3 better is playing. The vet currently has the lead.

Edit: Or is it Delly at the PG ? If Parker is out, MCW in, I can see Delly,MCW,Khris,Giannis,Plumlee for a few minutes, but not for long.Delly has to rest at some point, who is our next PG? that is my question
This is a good defensive lineup too.

Hey, look at that, as soon as they bumped his minutes, he started getting hurt.

I don't understand the point. Yao is one of countless players who didn't play big minutes in the NBA and still had an injury-shortened career.

On the other hand, many players can and have played 38-40 minutes without any issue. Allen Iverson averaged 41.8 minutes per game over a 12 year stretch including averaging 41.8 minutes while playing for Denver. Tim Duncan averaged 39.3 mpg for his first 6 seasons. Playing time is very valuable for a young player's development.

Iverson, LeBron, Garnett, Kobe, Ray Allen, Jordan, Pippen, Gary Payton, Olajuwon, Barkley, Malone are examples of players who averaged over 38 minutes for a ten year stretch.

Yao hurt his foot and then got pressured to play for China in their home Olympics and it ended him. He was also the biggest guy ever to play for any length of time so it's not really a useful comp. Iverson averaged something like 42 minutes over his career IIRC. Beast.
Edit: already covered above.

I hope Monroe is gone for a solid return(possible a draft pick) before pre-season starts

I only hope but, we all know that its not happening

A starting line up of

PG:Giannis
SG:Middleton
SF:Parker
PF:Maker
C:Henson

Dellavedova and Plumlee just dont have the charisma to be starters or leaders, and novak shouldnt even be on this team.(maybe in2013).

Yikes. That lineup would look funny going against a small ball team but otherwise doesn't look like a very good idea.

really since you are new in this forum, I will explain how Point Giannis work. This is no 2K sports game.
Giannis can't guard point guards. So a 3-d point guard who plays offball is required -----> Delly.
And core 3 is enough charisma and leaders in the lineup, we need hard working role players around them --- Delly,Plumlee
I am not high on Plumlee but he earned his chance after his post ASB perfomance, paired with Giannis

Lol.
What does it matter, if he's new in this forum with his opinion about Giannis?
And it doesn't have to be a pg to guard the opponent's pg. A SG could work too. Heck even a SF could work as long as he is a good and quick defender. That would be my dream scenario actually. Hopefuly Brogdog turns to be such a player

PS. Btw I disagree with Henson and especially Thon being starters together with the core.
No hay banda.

It would be pretty bad ass if Monroe actually was working on his D all season long..... I mean he would still likely not be the best fit, but it would be nice to see him realize he needs improvement and do something to help impact the success of the Bucks.

This is a 9man win now rotation ... Henson,Thon, Ennis,Brogdon,Vaughn,Novak in that order get minutes when someone is not in a good night. This is until trade deadline. Maybe at the deadline we trade Monroe and Henson gets the minutes he deserves.
