I'm sure Mids is in better shape than I was and has a much better recovery program planned, but I've had a grade-3 tear (off the bone avulsion) in both left and right, one from a marathon at 25 years and one from playing flag football 32 years old. At 25 with average therapy it took me 6 months but the explosion was never the same and I've injured it twice since. At 32, I quickly became 42 years old after the injury. So many hamstring troubles in football these days as well: Mathews for his first three years and now Burnett and Linsley this year. Are they under-stretching over over-stretching?
I've read that having under-developed quads puts more stress on the hamstring. Probably the risk factor I've seen cited most often, in literally everything I've read, is upping your activity too soon instead of progressively getting in shape. My guess is Khris starting doing a lot more basketball-related activity because training camp is coming up, and once you're past 20 you can't take your body for granted anymore.
I also wouldn't guarantee that Khris is in better shape than you were. I don't know you, but if you did a marathon at 25, you were probably in pretty good shape. Khris is certainly a much better athlete than you, but for all we know he was lazy all summer. He did come to camp pretty out of shape last year. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but being out of shape at that age is alarming. You want to invest in and build around guys who live for physical activity and competition. Guys like that should never get out of shape until they're just too old to keep up.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.
