Bucks media day discussion thread
It will be live streaming on Facebook and at Bucks.com.
The Middleton injury really just took the excitement out but it will be fun to see moose and MCW saying they need to be the leaders of this team
Meant to say funny not fun

We're officially at the point where I have no worries about players falling into line. This is Giannis' team and everyone who doesn't accept or like that can GTFO (see: Bayless).

It will be great to open camp tomorrow. First preseason game is a week from today. Mids injury is a bummer but it will be good to be able to discuss actual basketball instead of endless hypotheticals.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

How accurate are the preseason games ? I mean do teams play with starting lineup, experiment a lot, defend with the eyes only etc ? Are they on TV ?

I'm sure when preseason starts next week I'll get a little more excited, but I'm too bummed about the Middleton injury still. Was really looking forward to seeing a healthy lineup of Delly, Mids, Giannis, Parker and Plums.

Re: Bucks media day discussion thread
Theres no other way to say it, the Middleton injury is devastating. Not only for the Bucks to reach their full potential this year, but because we'll have no grasp on how close we are to contending for a title by the time Giannis and Jabari are 23. The injury just pushes everything back a season. I'm hoping we're in the running for a playoff spot and Middleton can come back and give us a glimpse. Then see how we stack up against a #1 or #2 seed and hopefully shock the world. And I'm really disappointed that Greg Monroe is still on this roster. Thought for sure he'd be on another team by now. It further muddies the vision of our future. I'd love for a resident insider to drop by with a % chance that Monroe can still be traded before the season so I feel a bit better. Overall, though, no expectations, unfortunately.

In theory there is some experimentation early on and then you lock into your rotation the last couple of games. I don't recall what Kidd has done the last couple of years though. I'm not sure about TV, I don't believe FSN carries any, maybe NBATV carries one or two.

It's streaming on the Fox Sports Wisconsin Facebook page. Haven't checked the other places.

only took 20 minutes to show up on their website, no wonder the team is a perennial loser.

Re: Bucks media day discussion thread
Pre-season games provide a glimpse into individual skills, but reveal relatively little about a team. They are more like scrimmages than real games. Starting lineups usually begin the games, but most teams limit minutes for veterans. A disproportionate number of minutes go to rookies, bench players and camp invitees who will not make the final roster. The final product is a mish mash of uneven results. Teams that "win" can be excited and enthusiastic, ignoring that they beat a team that will never appear on an NBA court. Teams that "lose" take consolation in the fact that they sat their starters for most of the game. Individuals can look great, going against defenses that often trying to figure out how to play as a team.
The pre-season is rife with experimentation, but that does not mean that the exhibition games give a clue as to how things will be when games count. Jason Kidd continues the experimentation with lineup combinations into the regular season. The pre-season is just the first phase of the experimentation.
The pre-season is also a dress rehearsal for all of the supporting casts. Referees try to emphasize rules du jour, resulting in a lot of calls that one will seldom see in the regular season. Announcers, scoreboard / video / clock operators and in-game entertainment staff work out kinks. Just like the teams on the floor.
