If she hits the game winner off that screen, you get criticized for "missing" a call. In this case the only criticism is making the correct call at a bad time. I would rather have the latter.

Nah. There's never been a time where history has looked back and said THERE WAS AN ILLEGAL SCREEN. That's a call that's been let go forever. No one is bringing it up if it wasn't called.

Are ppl serious about the refs shouldn’t have called that? Apart from her doing the splits she’s clearly moving on the screen too.

I’m all in favour of swallowing the whistle in tight spots but blatant **** like that you have to call.

Don't know what the debate is ! Clearly a moving screen. Unfortunately it happened late in the game. That needed and should be called no matter what time of the game it is.

I say that tongue-in-cheek, as I did think it was a good call live, but I was nonetheless surprised they called it. I tend to agree with DB that the only people who look back at games feeling spurned about a no-call are the diehard fans of that team.

The uproar over the obvious moving screen is baffling. Like if you don't want that called in basketball then let's not put defenders out there period. Let's just have each team run their 5 on zero dummy offense and see who can make the most shots all game.

Hot take: I’d rather have two BJ Freeman level players than one AJ Storr level player

BJ Freeman is a very minus defender. I watched every game of his at UWM obviously and his effort level is low and his usage is very high on offense to get that 20 a game. Storr is a way better player. Dude would be the best player in the HL by far.

Re the illegal screen:

I she doesn’t do all of: feet spread 5 feet apart, sliding hard into the defender, AND throws the elbow out… it’s not called.

But she went for the illegal screen triune so it got called. I’m fine with it. I’m sure part of the discussion in the huddle was coach saying, “mess her up. They won’t end the game on an illegal screen call.” [Charley Murphy voice] Wrong! Wrong!
