Purdue just too small and unathletic or unskilled at every position that isn’t Edey

7'4, 300, and mobile has to be able to do something.

Generous to call him mobile.

I'm realizing I was probably wrong about that, lol.

I haven’t watched much MM but surprised this Purdue team made it so far. Seems their whole strategy is to just abuse Edey’s size advantage.

Acknowledging it’s easy to say now, I don’t know why anyone thought this was going to be an all-time game. Just media hype I suppose. Connecticut was very obviously the favorites and expected to runaway. “Two sevum foot’rs!”

Quite a bit. It was irrationally hyped-up because it was the first championship with "7 foot stars" since Ewing vs Hakeem. Everyone completely ignored the fact that it was more like "7 foot star vs. a complete team of NBA talent, with a tall guy too."

Yeah, I also had heard it. I think the spread only being 6.5-7 among KenPom or any other human's #1 vs. #2 team (Houston might've been if not for injuries) tricked people a little bit. Purdue was the #2 team on aggregate but did not have the ceiling to actually beat UConn, who clearly had more in the tank than shown most of the regular season, similar to an NBA team.

If anybody was going to do it, it was going to be Alabama...who had the blueprint in the 1st half (shoot 8/11 from 3). If they could've somehow gotten a miracle game where they did that wire-to-wire, they were about the only one.

Edey is going to be really bad at the next level isn't he?

I think Edey will make it as a part timer.

Tristan Newton would be a good Buck, and as an added bonus was a character in As You Like It.

Edey has good hands and good balance. I think he'll get eaten alive on the defensive end though and his ramrod style of post game likely won't play at the next level either.

If he can actually shoot a little which is very possible and if he can refine his body and eek out a little more mobility....he might have a chance to be a backup somewhere.

Just being a giant isn't gonna be worth much on its own anymore though.

I wouldn't say I'm bullish on him, but the balance and hands are great points. Let him set picks and seals, use his size as an asset to create freedom for others. He has touch, but I don't know about a face-up game. Has the coordination and hands to come off picks and catch/finish the roll.

I like Clingnan a lot, but Edey absolutely dwarves him. Really illuminates how big Edey is.

Complete situational guy, but I think those situations exist where he can be utilized.

I've mentioned before but dirt cheap Brook replacement who was a former big college name would be Luka Garza. He's very large, and has learned to shoot 3s. Not saying to get and to start and play 30 mins. But if they go to a Giannis at 5 main lineup but you need a cheap thick backup big who can shoot 3s for certain matchups he'd be a guy probably flying under the radar a bit.
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.
