Game 74: Bucks at Hawks - 3/30/24 - 6:30 - NBATV/BSWI - Dame OUT

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Fri Mar 29, 2024 7:30 pm

Hawks have won 4 straight including 2 over Boston. They will be 9 or 10. Bucks are floundering. We have split 2 games against the Hawks. Both were in Milwaukee.

Game 1 is in about 3 weeks. Can't wait

Go Bucks
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Dame vs Murray in an epic battle of Who needs 40 shots to score 30 points.

I’m done with trying to bend over backwards to get Dame feeling comfortable and in a rhythm. Just give the ball to Giannis and get out of the way. Play faster. Dame doesn’t have it this year hopefully he goes to LeBron’s fountain of youth this offseason otherwise we are screwed long term. Playing through Giannis usually leads to high quality shots let’s keep it simple.

Our record when Dame has a usage of 28 or more this year is 21-7 and 13-9 when he's under that number. I'm not sure why anyone would thinking taking the ball out of his hands is better for the team. Ideally we want him and Giannis to both be in the 30s.

Dame is out, and I'm not concerned. In fact, my care factor to that news is quite low.

I think his recent play is quite indicative that he didn’t get enough hugs as a kid.

A good transitive property game to make us feel good about matching up with Boston.

Our point of entry defense’s weakness is affecting a lot of things. Obviously it allows teams to penetrate easily but it also puts undue pressure on Brook to defend the rim. He becomes unable to continually do that which leads Giannis having to abandon his rover defense that he was so great at, and help Brook which in turn leads to foul troubles for Giannis and getting tired too. That reduces the impact of Giannis on offense where he is still unbelievable.

None of these problems existed last year as the strengths of our players were so uniquely well balanced. Jrue was so good that by himself he gave the Bucks strong poe defense. Grayson and Ddv before that were far better than Beas in defense, and obviously Jrue is far better than Dame in defense.

If we are compelled to play Dame and Beas at the same time, we will continue to be a team of weak poe and thus the entire balance of the team becomes suspect. Somehow Dame has to play with a better poe defender than Beas; not sure who that could be, for starter minutes. When Beas plays, Dame needs to be resting and some better poe defender needs to play.

If Doc makes this correction, I am confident that our defense and offense will be better than now.

Change needs to be made now. We are perilously close to 4th place. If we reach there we will face the Celtics early. The remaining regular season games are thus critically important.

Bring Robin back to recite Poe for the team.

I was told the RS doesn't matter at all.

A win and we don't need our Dame
A loss and it's his fault the same
We need a ship-shape boat
And also a scapegoat
The new guy can take all the blame

Let the recriminations begin as we win 120-104 without him.

My enthusiasm for this game went from a 2 out 10 to a solid 8 when I read that Dame wouldn't be playing.

Bucks should start AJJ at point. He can play at the same time UConn is playing, in order to keep him zeroed in on the Bucks.

The Bucks have no other point guard. Pat Bev isn't a point guard. Maybe TyTy. He's played well lately.

I don't know which is worse.

The fact that if the Bucks lose tonight they fall to 5-7 in their last 12 games.

Or the fact that you still have to break it down and explain to some Bucks fans that Doc isn't doing a good job.

How I wish we didn’t trade Jrue and Grayson for Dame and in fact Bud for Griff and now Doc. Too late for regrets though.

We have a golden chance today to play a better poa defender than Dame to play alongside Beas. Doc should try to identify today if ajj or ty ty or Pat or green or even mjb can be that player. We absolutely need a solid poa defender instead of Dame & Beas combo. In fact we probably need 2 poa defenders, one each to play when Dame or Beas is resting. I would even try Thanasis if nothing else works.

As I have written, if we cannot fix our poa defense, everything else will suffer.

Today is therefore a very important day for the Bucks, not just to win, but to solidify something that has been awful with Dame and Beas playing together.
