TI: BUCKS/SPURS aka welcome back RJ

Post#1 » by darthkiller » Sun Dec 20, 2009 5:42 am

Spurs trade :

Richard Jefferson
Theo Ratcliff
Roger Mason Jr.
Malik Hairston

Bucks trade:
Michael Redd
Carlos Delfino

Why for Spurs :
Richard Jefferson has been absolutely horrible for the spurs, guy does not fit in at all. Mason has been inconsistent all year. They get a legit starting 2 and 3 in Redd and Delfino who can spread the floor.

Why for Bucks
BUcks have too many shooters and need a slasher who can get in the paint and score. Jefferson does that.

The Spurs actually could trade him back to us since he was traded during last season's fiscal year (pre-July 1st).

But why would they trade back a healthy and useful player for Redd who makes more money and can't play?

The Spurs have to laugh at this deal, Redd could be the worst player in bb based on his contract. I have to believe his value is zero until he proves he can play. Even the Kings announcers said he looks terrible and couldn't believe Skiles was playing him.

The Bucks are stuck with him unless they take back a longer, more horrid contract.

Based on what we know, Hammond won't be doing that.

Really? Based on what?

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 01&y2=2010

On stats? Because on paper, Delfino has the edge on Mason. I like Delfino on the court better than Mason too. He's a much better rebounder and a better defender than Mason. On offense, Mason holds a small advantage as a shooter, or does he? After shooting a career best 42.1% from deep last season, thus far this year he has fallen off in a big way (33.8%). Carlos has him beat on that aspect this season shooting 36.7%. Mason doesn't do much in terms of taking the ball to the hole and getting to the line, although he shoots a good % when there.

Delfino's size makes him much more versatile as he can play the 2 or 3 whereas Mason's slight frame limits his effectiveness guarding stronger players. I also feel Delfino hustles harder on both ends of the floor.

I'd take Delfino over Mason, Jr. based on stats and on-court activity. Salaries are nearly identical, but Carlos just does more on the court than Mason.

Why would the spurs do this? No matter how bad RJ is playing, he is gonna be better than Redd, and Mason is pretty much even with Delfino, and Hairston and Ratliff are trash.Bad trade for the spurs

Why does everyone come up with stupid trade ideas. It's pointless. Unless you hear rumors about it, don't bring it up. RJ back to Mil, seriously come on. What a stupid waste of a thread.

All of you do not know what you are talking about....Redd is not free. This is mental. He has to make the biggest adjustment coming back and coming off the bench and being asked to pass the ball and defend.
He is not terrible. I don't know what you are talking about. He just doesn't fit this coach or this team because of the way his game is.
Everyone misses shots, but when he is missing free throws this is mental for him. Skiles and Jennings role and Skiles demands are in his head and he has to actually think and play a certain way that the other coaches here did not make him do.
Redd still has value.
