Webster had minor back surgery this morning to remove part of a herniated disc.
normal recovery is 4-6 weeks.

That sucks. Hopefully Brewer can step his game up now or Johnson gets healthy fast.

I pray that Snipes's hammy is improving so we don't need to watch Brewer get lots of minutes.

If the hammy is a problem for Wes just give more minutes to Ellington

Geez, I never saw this coming.....

Brewer should be salivating at the mouth right now, gives Ellington and Johnson a chance to play good minutes off the bench and battle for the starting spot.

Bad news for Webster, hope he recovers well.

Warn New Orleans, it looks like they're going to have a catastrophe.

I know this message has nothing to do with basketball, but that Lesnar vs. Velasquez fight BLEW MY MIND. Especially considering it was right after that Shields vs. Kampmann snooze-fest. I CANNOT WAIT for Velasquez vs. dos Santos.

I have Webster in fantasy. I wonder if I should keep him stashed on the bench or drop him for Wes Johnson.

Yea Cain is a beast. I knew he was good but didn't think he was capable of that. He folded up Brock like a cheap suit. I hyped Cain up to my brother and even I was underrating him.

Cain was impressive, although I can't say I was hugely surprised by the outcome. The fight was destined to end brutally, no matter who won. I was most impressed with how easily Cain got up after being taken down; we already knew he outclassed Lesnar striking.

Yeah, he's been killing people since he stepped foot in the octagon. I haven't seen his fight with Kongo, that everybody points to as his only weak performance, though. I figured he would destroy Lesnar if he could keep it on the feet after seeing what he did to Minotauro, but of course I had my doubts that he could stay off his back against Lesnar. Boy was I wrong. The last 2 heavyweight title fights certainly have lived up to the hype...and I think the next one will, too.

I was completely surprised, I had no idea Cain had that kind of strength. Stuffed a takedown then stood up when Lesnar had him on the ground a little later on. I thought Lesnar was going to completely dominate him physically but he had nothing. Lesnar has some of the worst striking you can in a top contender, he needs to learn to box and get some head movement because he's just a big head target out there and if you can withstand his wresting, you can go toe to toe w/ him and knock the **** out of him. Big guys w/ some grappling ability like Carwin (despite the hail mary arm triangle) and now Cain have exposed brock big time

Yeah, it basically came down to whether or not Cain could keep it on the feet. It was a bit of a foregone conclusion once he showed that he could.

Something that some of the guys on MMA Live (and Dana White) were alluding to was that Brock seems to just melt down once he takes a square shot on the chin. It doesn't seem like he's used to getting hit. He hasn't been knocked out clean, obviously, but his gets tagged and suddenly all strategy evaporates and goes into survival mode and just curls up.

Lesnar needs to change camps. He basically just trains with a bunch of wrestlers and then brings in one or two guys for each camp (Couture plus Florian's boxing coach when he fought Carwin and Pat Barry for this last camp). All the other top heavyweights train at arguably the 3 most prestigious training camps in all of MMA (Carwin at Greg Jackson's, dos Santos at Black House and Velasquez at AKA).

Cain vs. Junior dos Santos is going to be ridiculous, though. Carwin vs. Nelson should be a spectacle as well.

Carwin/Big Country has me thinking its going to be one of those uncomfortable fights where one guy (big country) takes way too much abuse but doesn't go down and remains just coherent enough where they can't really call the fight

Mmm. I don't really see that. If Carwin is landing shots, chubby is going out.

I think what really stood out to me in the Brock/Cain fight was that Brock's never fought anyone that punches as fast as Cain. Brock had no time to gather himself. Cain just kept coming at him. I absolutely loved it because I hate Brock. I think I was one of like 5 people at BWWs cheering for Cain.

And I disgaree on the Shields/Kampmann fight. I was impressed by pretty boy.

The entire bar I was at was supporting Velasquez. I don't know if anyone was cheering for Brock.

I mean, simply defeating Martin Kampmann is a pretty impressive feat, but compared to his last performance completely dismantling Dan Henderson, it wasn't at that same level. Supposedly he had some trouble with the weight cut coming back down from 185.

Carwin just announced that he's pulling out of the fight due to a back injury. Who else could really fill in there? If they want to keep it the co-headliner I have a hard time seeing anyone in the HW division as a big enough draw to be a co-headliner outside of Lesnar, Mir or Big Nog if he's over his injury yet. I don't see Lesnar back that soon, though.

I could also see them promoting Guida/Gomi to co-headliner and maybe doing big country vs. Travis Browne or someone like that on the card but not as the co-headliner.

I didn't mind that fight at all. I enjoy seeing a fighter with high level jiu-jitsu work his technique. The only thing that surprised me was that even though Shields got mount like 5 times, he couldn't lock in the position. I'm not going to come down on him too much, since Kampman is a very good fighter, and Shields apparently cut 20 lbs in a day to make weight due to the transition from Middleweight to Welterweight. He should be in much better shape for his next fight.
