That is exactly why. :o

No, he played a lot of minutes last with our better players, and his Net Rtg (min 100 minutes) with all of them was negative.

-18.1 Naz Reid + Mike Conley 116 Minutes
-12.7. Naz Reid + Rudy Gobert 199 Minutes
-9.0. Naz Reid + Nickeil Alexander Walker 181 Minutes
-7.3. Naz Reid + Karl-Anthony Towns. 446 Minutes
-6.9. Naz Reid + Kyle Anderson. 514 Minutes
-5.2. Naz Reid + D’Angelo Russell. 437 Minutes
-0.9. Naz Reid + Anthony Edwards. 807 Minutes
-0.4. Naz Reid + Jaden McDaniels. 579 Minutes

MacLaughlin was his only positive NetRtg (+0.9 Net Rtg in 353 Minutes)

None of these are a lot of minutes for +/- to be useful...

That’s not right either. Naz and Ant was the #10 most frequent two-man combo for all Wolves pairings. Naz and Jaden was #18.

You think 800 minutes without controlling for anything is enough to get solid 2-man data?

ANT/Reid without Gobert/Towns was a good bench unit.

ANT/Reid without Gobert/Towns was a good bench unit.

If you want to chalk up Naz’ bad numbers to sample size, then you should say all 2-man data is useless, because these are some of the largest samples of the 160 listed for last season.

And “Ant/Reid without Gobert/Towns” is an even smaller sample size, but you’re willing to use it to say that’s a good bench unit?

You can’t cherry-pick like that, just because we like Naz.

I feel like this perception is largely skewed by the early part of the season. I wish I could go through the full last stretch of the season to prove it, but I can tell you that the team was +1 in over 10 minutes of play when they shared the floor in the game Reid suffered his wrist injury in Phoenix. I know it doesn't completely nullify your statement, but it does show that there was some growth.

He played 1250 minutes total. 800 is a pretty solid sample size.

Naz looks real good here. As stated that last move was ridonkulous. Guys his size shouldn't be doing that.

It's why I don't really view him as a center. Centers don't have this skill level. Heck, most power forwards don't have this skill level.

Naz get real skill for a big. Looks like he could be our future center if Rudy experience turn sour.

Rudy has absolutely no future here once his contract is up. If would be cut shorted if he couldn't opt-in.

Quite the crew there working with him. I like the extend-o arm that they are using too. Does anyone know if some of the guys working in the video are other players waiting their turn to work, or if all of the guys are just there working out Naz? He looks fit. Glad the new contract is hopefully not making him lazy.

I know Naz can score, but can he defend?

Think that’s the question I was somewhat asking above.

His offense is above average but defensively he may need to be in the right scheme? More of a switching/trapping scheme?

He is just not a good defender right now. Not strong enough for center and not quick enough for forwards which is why he foul a lot. Hopefully better next year.
