15 mill a year is ridiculous, and I am a huge Pek fan. If that is the case I would gladly let him take the QO of 6 mill and risk losing him next year...**** it. If he does leave as an UFA next year we can just sign Gasol since he and Rubio have been dying to play with each other in the NBA.

This news really ticks me off.

 I remember the times when people were saying that Pek doesn't look like the type to be all about money. Now it seems like the opposite. I'm too in the camp that is fine with him taking QO or standing firm on a low ball offer. Who knows, maybe in a year his value will go down.

It's not about Pek, it's about his agent. I think this is just an attempt that will end up with a contract not better than 4/50.

It was just a stupid joke.

Yeah, I saw that, but I thought that the joke implied a non-joke element that Pek is actually the one pulling the moves. I guess I was wrong :)

I want to see how he benefits from the added wing help. If we can routinely rely on him down the stretch to hit big shots then we can talk but if its like it has been, forget about it. We can find someone to bring us neighborhood numbers for much cheaper. I mean, Al freaking Jefferson isn't getting paid this kind of money and I know people hate hum but I think he's way more reliable than Pek and more capable of having a huge game.

True that. Athletes can say whatever they want, but when money is in play, their hearts can easily betray them. Actually that probably goes for not just athletes but everyone...

I don't understand some players. If some of these superstars want to win so god damn badly, take a **** pay cut and stop hogging all your teams money so they can spend it on players who can help them win. So don't whine about your team when they are paying you 18 million a year. That's why I like Dwyane Wade.

I'm sure Pek like most player is just ignorant of the situation. He hired an agent to advise him and take care of negotiations and he's stayed out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if his input was limited to 'I really want to stay in MN.' I don't believe reports that Pek or his agent expect the max. I think it'll eventually get done and it my hunch is the delay is for reasons that we aren't privileged to, not a mere hassling over extra millions.

I wanted to write a really big wall of text regarding whole issue about Pek and my opinion about it but i decided to make it as brief as i can.It will still be long enough so if you don't like them you should stop reading now.

I might not post here really often and i am not sure can i be even considered as Twolves fan since i started looking them closely once Pek joined and started playing his game, but during last few years i started to really like this team despite all the losses and injuries, draft failures, i liked reading your comments on this board, i've even been sad for Adelman wife, i don't think i ever been drawn to some team since Jordan's Bulls.I needed to address this before i state that if this 15 million story is true(which i seriously question) Flip should tell his agent to forget about it and simply walk away because that kind of contract would hurt the franchise.I know its been a long time since Wolves had legit center, but you should not overpay for such a crazy amount if whole story is true.

I dont think i need to say that i really like Pek and i even met him few times, always seemed as simple and cool dude you could hang out with.He is probably still around here in Montenegro going out and having fun.I can say i am pretty sure Pek put his trust in a wrong guy to handle his contract in USA since he never was a guy which was involved in negotiation process and demanding big bucks, he always had agents to do that for him. This kind of delay will probably jeopardise his participation on Eurobasket for our NT which will really hurt us.And i hate him for that and his decision to not get involved in this process.

Speaking of money, Pek could probably live like a king here in Montenegro just from the money he earned last season.12 milion offer Wolves presented is fair and respectable which should've been taken right away.To describe you situation here through my case, i graduated business economy with all honors and awards one can get and i work in coal mine company selling coal to our respectable clients.I earn something less than 8000 $ per year, and i live just fine, i even leave some money on saving account because i am not such a heavy spender and i am not married yet :D

In the end to wrap this up, i'd like to say that i'd love see Pek resign here for a fair and reasonable amount but if whole 15 milion story is true, than let him take qualifying offer and sign him for vet min next year in free agent pool where u will have teams throwing big bucks for guys like Lebron,Bosh,George,Cousins,Melo etc.

Still 2 months to start training camp. It feels like it's going to drag until camp.

@Amandasurcn I think he wanted to skip all along. Told that by someone in the know. But heard the backlash in Montenegro would be too big.

Hmmmm....Maybe he wanted to skip eurobasket and wanted an excuse to do it.

Great post.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Pek. I was intrigued about the montenegrin point of view and I'm glad we concur. We all love the Pek and we all hope that all this moneywhinning is his evil agent work.
(I know that that is what his job is about but... you know C'mon! 15M!!?)

@ 15 mil per PEK would make more than Klove, M Gasol, BLopez, Rus Wesbrook, and many others. A 15million dollar player should be able to take over games, at PEKS position he cannot do that. Over paying let him walk

It gets more interesting :)

I mentioned Eurobasket absence in my previous post, and director of our NT said that they had a deal with Pek to settle his RFA status in NBA until 6th August, 4 weeks before Eurobasket tip-off.Clearly, its today and there is no signs he will resign soon. There are some sources that said that Beobasket(Pek's agency), agency from Serbia(which is Montenegro rival in group stage) stalled the Pek's negotiations on purpose to push this deadline and make Pek miss preparation games and rest of the training process with NT.So our director said that its likely Pek will miss Eurobasket, because he probably won't risk playing and getting injured which might affect his future contract.

Public opinions about him are divided, most people resent him quitting NT for a 2nd time in a row when he promised to us that he will be there in Slovenia no matter what. The other half understand that he has contract to sign but he could've sorted that out sooner like rest of the league and now we are turning to see how Vucevic-Dubljevic(Wolves pick) frontcourt will do.

With Pek's durability an issue, the last thing we would want is him playing more games for his NT team before the season starts.

Sounds like it's possible that Pek has been dragging out his contract negotiations as an excuse to avoid Eurobasket. I'd be OK with that.

I hope it is that (and I'm good with it if it is) and not a case of too many agents trying to get their share.

He's a one way player that gets injured too much, 12 mil a year should be an automatic contract signature.
I hope they sign and trade if the agent doesn't stop tripping balls.

This is looking worst as time goes by... maybe a sign and trade will be a better option.

Hmm. With Pek showing no loyalty to his own national team, who can expect he would show any loyalty to the Wolves? The guy is starting to come off as a big douche bag. Work those trade lines, Flip.
