Pekinator definitely is a beast. I love the guy. If it wasn't for him playing next to Kevin Love he could probably be a 20-10 guy.

I think he has a chance to be close, anyways.

espn ranks us 14th.
which is basically projecting us to be a playoff team.
nice to get some respect.

Re: Wolves In The News
Their was a poll on ESPN a few days ago that asked: "Are the Timberwolves a playoff team?" and 59% said no, I felt angry, but also thought that I know more about my team than people living in New York do.

Hollinger Timberwolves Preview:
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/ ... r-profiles
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/ ... r-profiles
Ricky Rubio
+ Fast, clever, long-armed point guard who can push the tempo and find the open man.
+ Bad outside shooter and a worse finisher. Draws fouls and makes free throws.
+ Elite defender with great quickness and anticipation for steals. Takes charges.
Brandon Roy
+ Skilled guard with great handle and feel for the game. Plagued by knee problems.
+ Subpar long-range shooter. Very good on midrange pull-ups. Sees the floor well.
+ Good size and strength, but middling defender when healthy. Awful when not.
Andrei Kirilenko
+ Long-armed forward who excels at blocking shots from behind.
+ Good ball handler and passer but lacks aggression and strength.
+ Mediocre outside shooter but a very good finisher around the basket.
Kevin Love
+ Dominant two-way rebounder who is a master of positioning underneath.
+ Good spot-up shooter and passer. Will use jump hook from left block.
+ Improved defensive player. Physical, but lacks great quickness and leaping.
Nikola Pekovic
+ Overpowering, wrecking ball of a big man who plays with unbridled physicality.
+ Good scorer around the basket. Draws fouls and can catch. Brutal ball handler.
+ Poor defensive rebounder. Competes on defense but doesn't move well.

Getting close to 10 boards a game should be more of a 'problem' than getting close to 20 points, considering that nobody from our starting 5 is a bad rebounder. Roy might not be a great rebounder but he's average at least.

A lot of it has to do with the minutes, and not too many centers in the league play 36+ mpg. For Pekovic, 10 rebounds would be easier to come by than 20 points. Still we can rely on him though to be a double-double threat.

"Adelman not sold on Roy."
Surprised this wasn't discussed here. What does the team look like if Roy doesn't do much?

Sorry, the discussion not was about Adelman's comments, only about the Roy's signing and his health. At the end, some people here was thinking the same of Adelman and Taylor, but most of the people said "Roy in wheelchair is better than Wes Johnson" or something like that. The fact is now we haven't Wes nor (probably) Roy, and we need a new SG. I've read Kahn was talking with Redd, even Bell.

Re: Wolves In The News
Well, we have several options at the SG spot, in case Roy gets hurt again. Bud can play the 2 and Shved should be able to contribute as well after getting used to the NBA game. Lee is another option.
Quite frankly, none of them are as good as a healthy Roy, or even Roy at 80%, but it's not like we're bound to give Ridnour and JJ significant minutes at the 2 spot again. Or someone like Ellington.

For play at 1 or 2 we have : Rubio(1), Ridnour(1-2), Barea(1-2), Lee(?), Shved(2), Budinger(2). Obviously, if we look at this panorama, we need another SG and we need him NOW.

Re: Wolves In The News
Going by what was posted in the Media Day thread Lee will most likely be used as a 2 guard exclusively. So we have at least several options to handle the minutes at the 2 spot. Whether the level of play is at least above average remains to be seen. I'm kinda optimistic.

If the Roy trade is a fiasco, then we are at the same point of last year. I'm pissed, very pissed, really very very pissed.
