Because White's off court issues are going to be a major distraction for whichever team he's on over the course of his career. Barea's not very good, but at least you can count on him to play and contribute when healthy.

I think they'd be better at home. Probably part of why he wanted to play here

Also, I view the swap more as Martin/Barea and Williams/White.

I was a big jonas guy, I was hoping we'd trade down to 4 and take him. I think a pek/love/jonas frontcourt rotation would be sweet. That said I didn't have a huge problem with drafting Williams. Plus we wouldn' t have burned a year of jonas's rookie deal, which has value. But this team isn't known for thinking long-term.

I think we have to hold onto Williams at this point for a couple of reasons.
1. We aren't going to get even close to equal value for him in a trade.
2. We may need him in a year or 2 because AK47 is 31 and has a short-term contract (1 year plus a player option).

I say try to develop him as a bench option behind Kirilenko/Love and hope he eventually turns into a quality starter to replace Kirilenko when his contract is up. Perhaps at 33 kirilenko would even take less money to play a backup 3/4 role in a couple of years.

Plus we've burned up all our other long-term assets this summer. johnson + draft pick gone to sign kirilenko.
#18 (a 4 year rookie scale player) for budinger, who is unrestricted next summer. When Love hits his opt-out year we could be looking at rubio. pek (hopefully extended) and a bunch of cap space. It would be nice to have a RFA in Williams who has developed into a good player then too.

If Roy works out we are looking at quality starters at all 5 positions. What would we look for in a trade that could play a bigger role than Williams? And next summer the draft is incredibly weak too, so trading him for another draft pick for kahn to whiff on isn't an ideal scenario either. I don't think trading williams for a short-term asset like kevin martin is smart either, especially when we have roy/shved/bud (all better) @ the 2.

I'm all for moving barea, just don't use another long-term asset to do it please. That was not a smart signing, but he should have enough value to some team to at least get an expiring out of it. And Royce White needs to prove he isn't koo-koo for cocoa puffs before i'd be interested in acquiring him. At least be able to take a plane ride.

dwill can just come off the bench in a james harden role. i think that fits him best as of now.

and i have no problem trading barea or luke. shved seems capable of playing pg

I'd be interested to see if Kevin Martin is a deadline possibility. I know Williams for Martin isn't equal value, but what if we added in a swap of Barea and White?

The problem with Dwill getting Harden's role is that Chase and Dante are left with now PT at SF & PF respectively and to me they can help us win games more than Williams. I guess Budinger can still get enough minutes at SG but then Shved will get no playing time. Unless one of Roy, AK or Love goes down for a long time we don't have enough minutes to keep everybody happy.

Would you guys do D-Will for Wilson Chandler and a 1st rounder. Chandler has been hurt, but he will bounce back this season. Chandler can play multiple positions, 2,3, and 4 and is a very good defender.

Yes ...as long as the 1st is unprotected and the trade agreement includes a written guarantee that the Nuggets will intentionally lose every game this year.

This guy was completely pathetic tonight. Did he work on his game at all this summer?

i think he is just weak-minded. In the court he seems to be as stiff as a brick. With ball handling problems and not finding his flow in the game. the ball movement stop when he touch it. (except for a couple of passes i've seen this preseasson). It's just a matter of confidence. Simple problem, but not so simple solution. Remember last game when the tv point out that his eyes was closed? that hurts.

He has the game and the youth to be a big player, but right now.. we have to be pacient. (not easy with Love out)

I would do it. I have a feeling that they would probably look to move Turner to a third team though. I just don't think Turner would be a very good fit with Ricky or AK47.

Any chance you guys need a point guard?

Would love to bring in Turner but I don't think Philly does that

Yeah, I doubt they do it, although it's not like Turner is particularly impressive either.

Maybe I'm low-balling Williams' value but I think we'd only get a lotto protected 1st for him. I'd be curious to see if we could get MarShon Brooks at this point for him.

As for Evan Turner, not a chance we get him for Williams.

Sure wish Kahn and Taylor would have listened to Adelman about DWill7. His return value is going to be much less than during the summer.

I get angry every time I think about 2011 draft.

Did they draft Motiejūnas only to trade him to get rid of Flynn?

And get cash to pay for the Rambis buyout. But yes, mostly a big cluster ****.

Yea, Evan Turner hasn't been setting the world on fire but I bet he has at least set ablaze a city or a small town. Derrick Williams hasn't even managed to light the match yet.
