What are you guys complaining about? You're telling me Mozgov isn't better than Stiemsma? He's like 100 times better. Giving up Roy and a pick in the 20's isn't bad at all

To all those saying horrible deal: checked with two league people just now via text. They both say Denver can do a lot better for Mozgov.
He sure has a lot of DNPs for a player who can do "a lot better" than a first round pick and expiring
He was hurt earlier in the year and got lost in the shuffle behind Koufus and McGee, but if you saw him play during the Olympics, he was actually very good. I think it would do well for his confidence to be reunited with his Olympic teammates anyway

Mozgov looked good in the Olympics, he plays well with our Russians... I like him more than Steamer.

Wonder if our MEM 1st could get us Henderson?

I was thinking that but the pick is in the 20's in a weak draft class. I have my doubts

Well Olynyk, McAdoo, Mitchell, Franklin, Saric, Muscala, Withey, McDermott could be in the mix in the 20s...
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt

Mozgov doesn't do much for me, I'd rather keep the pick.

Every draft seems to be "weak," but there are always players to be found in the early teens to mid twenties that contribute. I'd much rather draft a projected mid round center who we won't have to pay, and then have money for Pek. I'm sure we can get something for Roy's contract, even if it is minor. I say no thanks to the Mozgov deal.

That Mozgov deal was too good for Denver, its a shame they've missed it.

Not like hes third string in your 5 spot, anyway right? You prolly need Greg Stiemsma to cover his departure, don't you?
Apart from Brandon Roy being the only terrible thing in the deal, I think you overestimate 10mpg player while you have logjam on his position(+you drafted another guy on 5). On the other hand, I myself have serious doubts would have even perform better than the Stiemer did or he would have his own terrible display of skills.

Re: Call it now: Who we gettin by the trade deadline???
From what I read from Wolfson in tweeter it seems that a 24-ish first pick does not have much market value. Could it be better to have a good 2nd round pick rather than a late first (due to not having to give guaranteed money?). I´m confussed.

I'm not sure why we'd be looking for a backup center at this point.

Re: Call it now: Who we gettin by the trade deadline???
Look at the Mozgov trade this way:
1. Teams sometimes sell a late 1st for $3 million in cash. Roy's still owed a pro-rated $2 mil, so is a look at Mozgov (at $1.2 for the rest of the season), worth the difference?
2. While we get a look at Mozgov, Mozgov also gets a look at us, to see if he likes playing with his comrades from the Russia's Olympic team. This might make him easier (and cheaper) to re-sign, especially after a bad experience stuck on the bench in Denver.
3. We gain Mozgov's Bird rights, so we can use our MLE to improve a different position on the team, with a different free agent. While people may see this trading for Mozgov's Bird rights as Pek insurance, I tend to see it as swapping payroll for a 2013 back-up C that frees us up from Steimsma. If we didn't re-sign Pek, we might have the money to acquire Mozgov without those rights.
4.We gain some additional value from removing the two-year guaranteed salary of the MEM pick (about $1 mil/year). At this level, we're talking about a player in the Lazar Hayward range, and I'd rather sink some of that money into Mozgov.
That said, we have been told the offer was rejected I wouldn't be surprised to see this deal become a three-way, where we still get Mozgov, and DEN picking up a player that can help them in the stretch run from a lottery team looking to rebuild who'd want the MEM pick more. And even if a Mozgov trade fails to materialize, I think this indicates that Kahn is trying to move that Memphis 1st somewhere.

I saw a rumor on Canis Hoopus this morning, Derrick Williams to Atlanta for Kyle Korver and the Houston Pick...anyone see this anywhere else?
It also had JJ Barea going Dallas listed.

No. Swap Morrow in for Korver and toss in a Memphis-Dallas pick swap and expirings for Barea and I could be okay with both moves.

I think they are supposed to be separate deals...the rumor on canis didn't specify what we would get for JJ.
Not sure how I feel about the Atlanta deal, I guess a lot would depend on the protections of the Houston pick and if it were conveying this year. If we're having troubles moving the Mem pick for Mozgov then I don't see how another low pick this year helps us.

Why the heck would Kahn be going after Mozgov? We have three centers on the roster. Makes me wonder if they are planning on losing Pek next year.
