Next season is the best opportunity to make the playoffs

I think we have a good chance that we'll make the playoffs because of these reasons:

1) 2014 draft
-Utah and Dallas said publicly that they are tanking. And lot of teams are planning to tank because of the "quality" of next year's draft.

2) father time/ injury
Dirk, Duncan, Nash and Kobe have been dominating the West for decades.
Next season, is a different story.

Dirk is maybe on a decline and Mavs have struggled to put a quality roster since they won the trophy.
Duncan might be in his last leg
Nash struggled without his Suns' medical staff
Kobe is out and many people says that he will never be the same

3) strict cba
- teams are really conscious about their salary right now.
Trades have been scarce. Many GM's are hesitant.
Owners are becoming cheaper which could lead to teams trading talent for cap relief (Memphis is an exception)

4) wolves were playoff-ready already if not for injuries
-plus Love with a whole offseason (no Olympics) to heal and improve. Rubio healthy and can now focus on his jumpshot.

For once we have a team that we dont need to blow up.
A key player addition or 2 and we can shock the NBA

The best opportunity... and the last one for Love. Let's see what happens to the roster and the staff and what sorcery do flip to keep the excitement up. Until Adelman decides everything it's unclear. Right now i'm a little burn with uncertainty.

Is the point of this thread playoffs or winning at least one round of the playoffs? We would've made the playoffs this season if healthy.

I could see us hitting 50 wins if we can get solid players this offseason.

You can't tank with Dirk on the roster, maybe they realize it's time to face reality and trade him in the summer though. Utah is definitely too good of a team to consider tanking, with a somewhat decent backcourt, and if they re-sign either Milsap or big Al that's a borderline playoff team again, they were in playoff contention this season with a starting backcourt of Jamaal Tinsley and Randy Foye for most of the season, think about that.

My take is that if we don't have bad luck with injuries, sort out SG position and re-sign Pek then I think we can shoot for HCA. Why not? I don't think that we are inferior to team like Denver, GSW and even Memphis. We have a good coach, good PF, good C, good SF, good PG and hopefully a good SG. We always play OKC tough even with all the injuries. I think we can take ours and not rely on other team tanking and older stars getting injured. Love vowed to come back strong and I think he will be back because he clearly didn't enjoy being an afterthought this season. I expect him to be in 2011/2012 shape. Rubio will have a full offseason to get better.

GSW and Memphis would smash us in a playoff setting if we don't upgrade our wings significantly.

i read once that Cuban said they're rebuilding. Also read about Jazz tanking for Wiggins.
I think it was on Wiretap. I may have misinterpreted/exaggereted sorry.

But still i like our chances next season.
We have one of the best young duo and scary part is that they even havent played one game.
Whether they admit it or not there will be urgency to make the playoffs next year because of KLove

Cuban promised that he will quickly rebuild the Mavericks through shrewd decision-making.
