A King's Ransom: Love Trade Talk V

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:22 pm

Almost to 100 pages in the other thread.

I'll leave that thread open until then, but eventually move the trade talk here

I feel like CLE has already obliged to get Love no matter what when they persuaded the King to return. Right now it's a matter of just playing hard ball, but they will crack eventually.

people think a Wiggins-Love trade is unfair
Minny also will take a risk in Wiggins who hasnt played a game yet and Bennett who had a very bad rookie season and still have 3 years left in his contract
Trust the PRosas!

I think what would be unfair is gift-wrapping Cleveland their first championship since Moses Cleveland founded the city by trading them Love for Waiters.

Can't just get a star with one year left under contract for free (via trade). Have to give something to get something. There are rules to this (please use more appropriate word) !!

I'd rank the trades like this.

1. Cavs deal with Wiggins.
2. Boston deal.
3. Bulls deal.
4. Warriors deal with Klay.
5. Warriors deal without Klay
5. Cavs deal without Wiggins.

Cavs without Wiggins is still better than W's without Klay. Having to take Lee's contract makes that the worst.

I disagree, and that is coming from someone who doesn't have much hope for Harrison Barnes.

Waiters and Thompson would be nice, and add the Memphis and Miami pick which could likely be lotto. Sure, there's risk there, but I have little hope for those 2 teams.

Where does biting the bullet and eventually just having Love walk go? I wouldn't put it at #7.

I disagree too, the only chance that i make is, 2-Bulls 3-Warriors with Klay 4- Boston.
A Boston deal was a good deal before the draft, after the draft he got worse IMO. Because we cant choose the 6# and 17# anymore.

Here's a thought.

If CLE thinks Wiggins AND Bennett is overpaying, they could try sending Bennett to a third team for an asset and then keep that asset. I don't think the Wolves would mind. They would still have to say yes to any deal that includes Wiggins for Love.

For example:

DEN OUT: JJ Hickson + Denver 2015 1st (top 10 protected)
DEN IN: Bennett

CLE IN: Love + GR III + Denver 2015 1st (top 10 protected)
CLE OUT: Wiggins + Bennett + Hopson + Felix + Haywood

MN IN: Wiggins + Hickson + Hopson + Felix + Haywood
MN OUT: Love + GR III

meh. Waiters is vastly overrated. Thompson is ok. Bennett is a complete bust. The picks are only remotely enticing.

I would put it over taking the Cleveland and Warriors deal minus their key pieces.

I would still rate Boston's assets higher than that. Smart will be a good player and their future picks are the best any team can offer.

After #4, I'd put let Love walk after the season.

I'd ignore the Dubs package. Dump our contracts with Love to BOS and offer the max to Klay when he's RFA. They'll be forced to match and they'll still have Lee under contract.

With Bosh to Miami, Houston are likely back in the hunt, too.

Whew. That's a lot of money for the current version of Bosh.

Not sure what a Houston deal would look like with Parsons off the table. Hmm.

The Chris Bosh signing is actually GREAT news for our chances IMO.

It keeps another strong team in the East, meaning it might not be a cakewalk through the playoffs.

As currently constructed, I'm not even sure Cleveland wins their division.

Yeah, but with the Parsons clock started, not sure how that all would play out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the Rockets match Parsons contract, he can't be dealt? If that's true, Rockets don't have much to offer. I don't think I'd want Parsons with his new price tag anyways.
