Something else to think of:

More LaVine/Barea lineups = Less Barea with ball in hands

That's what you think...

Seriously though, Barea will find a way to screw things up. I really hope he's off the team before the season starts.

We all saw what happened at UCLA when they basically told him to stand in a corner and spot up. Compare that to the summer league, when Flip put the ball in his hands and let him go to work.

Obviously, he's going to project as a SG longterm, but right now, I think he'll adapt better right away with the ball in his hands.

LaVine adapted quickly enough at UCLA that he went from being 50ish ranked recruit to generating top 10 draft buzz before conference play even started. Even after his shooting tailed off he was still able to ride that wave to a lottery selection.

LaVine should get some time at PG, but that's mostly out of necessity, since it's pretty tough to stomach the other options on the team outside of him and Rubio.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

That he wasn't starting in college doesn't mean much, especially if his competition was the coach' son.

Westbrook in his freshman year - 9 MPG.
Westbrook in his rookie year - 15 PPG.

There's no reason why LaVine can't be a great fastbreak player from the beginning. Playing with a PG who makes everyone look better should help.

Blazer fan coming in peace. More importantly I'm a Bruin fan for 28 years. Lavine didn't have competition with Bryce Alford. That's Bruinnation b/s who are just haters. His main comp was Anderson who dominated the ball. If he could run a half court offense he would've started but he can't. He can only be effective in the transition game at this point in his career.

Fyi. Bryce shot close to 40% from the 3 and had a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio. It's not like he wasn't producing and was handed minutes.

I think the hope is LaVine will play off-ball with Rubio as the primary ball handler and when he gets more comfortable/experienced he'll play some backup PG as well. I don't think anyone thinks LaVine is ready to handle heavy PG duties starting out.

That sounds like a solid plan. His biggest complaint this past season at UCLA or what his Father's complaint was that he wasn't used in his "natural position" as a PG. So he bounced. His D is horrendous though... he stands straight up when defending :banghead: .

I've seen people do that swim cut inside off the fastbreak a lot, but I don't ever remember somebody casually finishing with a 2 handed slam

KG?

Correct.

Flip Saunders didn't draft KG and Bill Blair was the coach...so...yeah.

Flip Saunders was hired as GM on May 11, 1995. Kevin Garnett was drafted on June 28, 1995. And Saunders (62) coached Garnett as a rookie for more games than Bill Blair (20).
