I have only seen the Cavs once so far and that was right at the start of the season. Back then Irving definitely had a lot of possession. Not sure if they have changed that since then.
Either way it doesn't really matter all that much. Even without LeBron Irving was always a SG in a PGs body. The complete opposite of Rubio. Personally, I prefer if a PG is looking to distribute the ball rather than trying to be the highest scorer on the team. I recognize, though, since handchecking was forbidden it's easier than it ever was for a PG to take it directly to the basket.
LeBron has shifted into his old point forward role. He's doing most of the distributing now.
