Milwaukee bucks
2013-14.
15-67.
Opp. Ppg. 28th
Worst.
Record

2014-15
40-40
Opp ppg 7th
Playoffs

To quote Russell Wilson
why not us?

What's everyone's opinions on the step that need to be taken to get this team into the playoffs as soon as next year or at least drastically improve their record like the bucks did this year?

Maybe we should steal Jason Kidd from them jk.

As long as we stay healthy, and depending on who we draft, I will be rather confident in our chances at fighting for (not necessarily claiming) the 8th seed.

Wiggins and LaVine and Shabby will have another offseason under their belts and I expect improvement from each one (don't sleep on the bazz). Plus if we are lucky enough to get KAT or Okafor, we will be set at every position except for PF.

The one thing I am completely unsure of next year... the situation with Pek.

1. the bucks are in the east.

2. Kidd inherited a team full of defenders; wolves have 2. So unless Flip is looking to turn 80% of the roster over, I dont see it happening.

I would be happy with 30-35 wins next season already.

1. Hire a defensive minded coach (Malone).
2. Draft with the 1°. Towns or 2° Okafor.
3. With Towns or Okafor our no.1 target should be T.Gibson. Chicago has:
5. Noah, Gasol
4. Gasol, Mirotic
Obvious Mirotic is going to play more minutes.
If we could get Taj with a package trade of Dieng + Bennett + couple of 2° round picks, great.

Roster for 2015 / 2016

Coach: Malone

Draft Towns or OK4
Sign Bjelica
Sign B.Wright ? (I'm Dreaming)
Sign Joseph

5. Towns Or OK4 / Wright / Pek
4. T.Gibson / Bjelica / Payne
3. Wiggins / Shabazz / Bud
2. Lavine / Martin /
1. Rubio / C.Joseph / LoBrown

Have our core duo of Rubio/Wiggins stay healthy and draft Towns, if possible (if not get another promising young big by either draft or trade).

Play a common-sense rotation along the lines of:
PG: Rubio (36) LaVine (12)
SG: Martin (28) LaVine (10) Wiggins (10)
SF: Wiggins (26) Bazz (22)
PF: Bjelica (24) Payne (14) Dieng (10)
C: Towns (34) Dieng (14)

I'm not counting on Pek being healthy, but he can also give us some good short-minutes production if he is, and I'm sure we'll have a couple of guys, either via FA acquisitions or just improvement/better health who can play well enough if there are injuries or foul trouble.

Replace Flip with a good young coach we really have confidence in, if possible. If nobody right is out there, give Flip another year but make sure to keep looking for our equivalent of Snyder or Budenholzer.

Pressure constantly on D, with Rubio and Wiggins making life hell for opposing guards and look to cause turnovers and run.

If we do those basic things and our best 3 guys play 70+ games, I think we'll be in the mix for a PS spot. After all, we're adding a top pick (and a possibly Mirotic-level Euro stash) to what looked like about a .500 team the first few games before Ricky got hurt... I remember us clearly looking better than Brooklyn and just below Chicago and Memphis during that stretch. So, with nothing fancy (but also no major injuries), I could easily see 45-37 or so and rapidly improving.

Everyone has some pretty valid points. Sounds like most ppl agree that a. We need minor personal changes. B. STAY healthy C. Draft a big
d. Possible coaching change.

And ill just add e. Decline in west strength ( do to player movement or injuries.)

*to bad we don't get 4 games against east opponents. Had one of the hardest schedules in the league this year.

I'll assume worst case in draft: 5th pick.

Draft WCS
Bring over Bjelica
Get rid of Bennett

Rubio, Brown
Martin, Lavine
Wiggins, Shabazz, Budinger
Garnett, Bjelica, Payne
Dieng, WCS, Pek, Hamilton

kind of a strange team, but probably capable of 35 wins or so

The only way you become relevant in the West is by stacking talent. OKC, Portland, GSW are the clear examples. Draft the BPA, trade by need and hope for the best. You draft a Curry, a Lillard, a Westbrook, a KD, a Klay, a Russel, a Hezonja or something, not a freaking WCS. None of those teams drafted their defensive anchors (except Ibaka who was the BPA anyway), they traded for Bogut, Lopez, Perkins (who was huge for the Thunder's D in their deep playoff runs, no matter what people think of him now).

Unfortunately to me 2015-2016 will have nothing to do with winning. Just all about improving. Big things to look for this offseason and through next season.

1) Develop our core guys. Make sure Wiggins, Lavine, Shabazz, Dieng, Payne, and the 2016 pick are doing all they can to develop. Figure out who is a part of the future and who isn't. Get the guys who are a part of the future to develop together. There is nothing more important than getting these guys to develop.
2) Get guys healthy: Rubio and Pekovic need to be healthy. We pay them a lot of money.
3) Get the right coach: I won't be surprised if Flip coaches again but quite honestly it would be an absolute mistake if he did. There needs to be a year to get guys acquainted with the system of whoever it is. In hopes that in 2016-2017 we are actually competing again.
4) Figure out how we want to handle future assets: 2015 second rounders, bejinca, other prospects. Are we going to turn these guys into cash, carry them and develop, or let guys develop overseas. Quite Frankly, we have too many young guys to pick a polished already prospect with our 2nd round picks. They will need to either be overseas prospects, traded for future picks, or turned into quick cash. Knowing the wolves, cash seems like the route most taken.
5) Clear some roster space: We need to get rid of Pek, Martin, Bud, Bennett at some point. What do we do with the 15 d-leaguers we picked up this season, are any worth holding on to? Garnett, when will he retire? 2016-2017 is the season that really matters again.

1. New head coach
2. New coach for bigs
3. Get everybody healthy.
4. Make a plan for the next 2 years that makes sense.
5. Bring veterans

He has really really underestimated Zach Lavine. I understand he hasn't been a great point guard, but he makes Lavine look like a liability more than an asset. To be willing to trade lavine for a top 40 protected pick is just absurd. And Payne for a 2nd round is also absurd.

I love Winslow as a prospect, I just think there are too many skilled bigs in this draft that would be taken before we take Winslow. And not to mention the log jam we already have at SF/ PF. We have too many questions at Center and PG to draft another SF. WCS today seems like he makes the most sense if we drop to 5. If we take Winslow, we would need to trade Shabazz or trade Martin and potentially play Wiggins mostly at the 2.

Also, is Pek really not expected to play at all next year? If his injury is that bad, just cut ties now in any way possible.

End of the day, we really need Towns. Like really bad. But I would take Okafor for sure.

I agree. Zach is one of the best athletes in the NBA and is still very raw (only 20) I think his stock is just has high if not more now then it was on draft day. Any team in the league would be highly intrigued by the potential that he brings. His star is on the rise with the minutes hes getting, the numbers he has been putting up and not to mention being recognized as the NBA dunk champion.

After Love was delt Saunders said they were working towards a new Identity. Being a extremely athletic team that can cause other teams fits on both ends. Zach's Defense is way behind his offense but I dont see why he cant improve with the tools he has. I dont mind the winslow pick if martin is gone, what we loose in shooting we pick up in Athleticism. The guy looks like harden/lebron on the break. If we are concerned about min I like the idea of small ball putting maybe BAzz at PF, only problem is if we were to do that we would need a top notch rebounding Centre. Ultimately I hope we get towns, And Bazz can add some Defense and handles then it would be like we gotthe two prospects we wanted. TOWNS and BAZZLOW. Guy can Dream.
