Who stays and Who goes? Needs ?
Now that the season is over, what you think ?
I say...
Stays:
Wiggins (as a SG with Shabazz, as SF with Lavine)
Rubio (Unless we draft Russell or Mudiay)
Shabazz (*6th men or to start)
Dieng (backup C)
Lavine (*6th men or to start)
Bennett (He is more expensive than Payne, but he also much better than Payne)
L.Brown (3rd PG)
Garnett (To help Towns and everybody else )
Go´s
Payne
Pekovic (Not easy, but...i would try)
Budinger
Martin (I would like to use Martin for a deal to get T.Gibson)
R.Hummel
Needs
Interior defense
Floor spacing
+Veterans / experience
+Shooters
Backup PG

Re: Who stays and Who goes? Needs ?
Roster consolidation is one of our important things to watch this offseason. While depth is a good thing, there are certain positions where we have the depth in numbers but still need an upgrade (PF). Other positions we should get an upgrade in the draft, but still need depth consolidation (C). And then there's other positions where depth can be used to address another need (SG) and to free up time for other guys.

Why do you say this? He's shown to be productive, and has an unguaranteed team option for under $1 mil next season. Personally, I think he's likely in...unless he's moved in a trade.

Re: Who stays and Who goes? Needs ?
Here's how I see our depth chart for next year, with obvious holes to fill
Rubio / _____ / _____
LaVine / _____ / _____
Wiggins / Muhammad / _____
Garnett / _____ / _____
_____ / Pekovic / _____
There are two glaring pieces missing from that depth chart, and let me tell you why. I think Martin and Dieng could be used to upgrade another position. You have to give something to get something, and if you want to upgrade PF, you're going to have to trade someone to do so.
The reason I think Dieng could be available is simple: if we address center with a top-2 pick, he'll be slotted as a starter. Pekovic won't have the necessary trade value, but can still be slotted for 15-20 minutes when healthy. All of a sudden, there are no more minutes available at center. So we could either play him out of position at PF (which is possible) or trade him for someone who is meant to play PF. Adding someone like Dieng also adds value to a deal to rid yourself of Martin's contract.
A similar deal could be made with Budinger and one of the young PFs.
After that, the third team can be filled in with guys like Brown, Hamilton, etc.
Just as an example:
Rubio / Calderon / Brown
LaVine / _____ / _____
Wiggins / Muhammad / Hummel
Garnett (15 mins) / Gibson / Payne
No. 1 / Pekovic / Hamilton
I haven't quite figured out a target at SG, but that can either be addressed at 31/36 or in free agency.

I hope Flip is stupid enough to buy Bennett out and the Raptors can pick him up for a million. Flip probably will because he doesn't care about talent he only wants guys who will suck him off for minutes in the locker room like Payne.

Yeah, that is definitely a problem if we add a C in the draft. There will be no minutes for everyone when Pekovic comes back, if he comes back.
And a Martin - Gibson swap would be a no from Chicago, maybe with Dieng along we can get it done.
(BTW I don´t even know if Flip is thinking about Gibson, but... that would be great)
Because Gibson can also be a C, and the problem of having our (*draft pick, Towns or Okafor) with Hamilton as our backup is provaly not a good idea, when Pekovic is injured, But with Gibson that Would Not longer be a problem.
Towns or OK4 / Gibson / Hamilton
Garnett / Gibson /

Are you sure? I think if anything I would more because Bennett will become a star when he leaves and it's always fun to rub it in. Especially considering I think Flip is one of the dumbest basketball minds in the business and a very unlikeable person. Hopefully after that plunder he'll be fired and he can go back to his job as a used car salesman.

Re: Who stays and Who goes? Needs ?
I would be perfectly happy with Neal as a backup to LaVine at SG if Martin gets traded. He was really solid in the time he was here, and I think Flip loves him for his shooting. I don't want him as a backup at $6-7mil, but I'd be fine with $3-4mil.

He also was playing for his contract.
I´m just saying, he was the "JJ.Barea" version in Charlotte. (Said by Charlotte fans)

Welcome
1st Rounder - Towns
Bjielca
Free Agent - Jamal Crawford?
PG - Rubio/ Crawford/ Lavine
SG - Lavine/ Someone we traded for
SF - Wiggins/ Shabazz/ Hummel
PF- Garnett/ Bjielca/ Payne
C- Dieng/ Towns/ Someone we traded for
Lots of big assumptions but going ideal situation here. If the clippers dont pick up Crawford's option I would love to sign him as a mentor for Lavine. If we can move Martin, Bud, Bennett, and Pek, that would be ideal. Probably not realistic. But I don't think realistic was a requirement in this thread

Re: Who stays and Who goes? Needs ?
I'd look to keep Martin unless some really good deal comes along. I really doubt we will have a better two next season, I still maintain he's one of the better scoring two's in the NBA and way ahead of anyone else we have that can play that spot besides Wiggins.
A lot of the young guys need to go. Too much development in front of them and we need to focus of developing less players. I'd put all my energy into Wiggins, Lavine, Muhammad, Dieng, Draft Pick. Look to get more capable vets around them.

You said a lot of the young guys need to go except for those five. That's basically all the young guys.
